HI all,
My cayman has
bose
standard but doesnt have
PCM
. (its a 2008 gen1)
I would like to change the headunit to an aftermarket one and keep all the
BOSE speakers
and amp.
Will this Adaptor suffice?

My understanding was that only the Euro Motorspeed
Bose
integration kit was the solution. If the unit you're linking would work then I'm jumping all over. I just cant spend $1K on a head unit then another $1K on the integration kit. But I'm going to follow this thread in case someone says this kit works.
There is this one.
I don't know anyone who has bought one, but it theory it looks like it should work. Price is right. That amp,
this mounting kit
, plus a $200 head unit...$550? <shrug>
Those harnesses don't look like the OEM
CDR24
. The product description note says: "Use this lead when changing the stereo (and you have
BOSE speakers
fitted as standard) to a new stereo
that has no RCA outputs
(i.e. has speaker outputs only)" . Most aftermarket headunits have both speaker and RCA (line-level) outputs, so I don't see how this helps. For the 987 Bose you need conversion to MOST. That tends to be pricey.
That mounting kit is much cheaper than what I've seen thus far. Maybe it is now doable for a reasonable sum.
HI All,
I have just spoken to an audio company that supply this :
Car Audio Equipment | Buy online at Car Audio Security
it 100% works for a cayman with bose and looking to change the HU.
it is 180 GBP which is roughly 220USD for all you over the pond.
Fascia plate is also sold which is £30 GBP = 45USD
I found that with my Boxster i wanted a touch screen with a knob for volume and a button to mode or menus. This way when the top is down, you do not have to rely solely on the touch screen
Updates for either of these? Anyone decided to be the guinea pig for the rest of us?
I'm so stacked up with pending 987 modifications, audio isn't even on my current list. I have Bluetooth to FM Radio converter for road trips, and that will suffice for a bit.
I'm still gearing up to paint and replace my center console and do SSK and
Numeric cables
all at once.
I think that by looking at the cost/benefit analysis, I would just do a whole 3rd party amp and head unit replacement, and keep the OEM parts in a box. Keeping the
BOSE
fibre amp seems unnecessarily costly.
Following this thread. Found the supplier for the above mentioned MOST adapter.
