Given this change (which appears to be backed up by Hartech trials) should I be changing to a hotter grade spark plug?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am changing out my standard stat for a 71degree item, the proposed benefit of this swap being reduced engine block temperatures. Given this change (which appears to be backed up by Hartech trials) should I be changing to a hotter grade spark plug? Car has the recommended Bosch FGR5KQEO in it at present, the hotter spec is an FGR6KQE which also appears in various places as the recommended plug for the 01-05 3.6 Carrera. Any experience welcome, I'm doing all the coil packs as well and don't want to have to delve back in here for a few years if at all possible!
