Suspected cause

I don't believe it was due to hitting the turn signal, because the parking lights on both sides were flashing...but I never thought of that possibility.

I parked the CS on the street, well away from other vehicles, to run into a little market for a few grocery items (I was 15-20 minutes inside the store).

So I ran over to my car and look for any sights of a break in, or damage to the outside of the vehicle and I saw nothing???????

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi CClub: I have a question that I can't seem to figure out the answer to...thought the gang here might have some ideas or past experience. I parked the CS on the street, well away from other vehicles, to run into a little market for a few grocery items (I was 15-20 minutes inside the store). When I returned to the car, all of the parking lights were flashing!? I was like WTF? It looked like the hazard lights had been turned on...but of course it wasn't the hazard lights. There was no car alarm sound at any time...as I'm sure I would have heard it in the market because the car was parked close to the open entrance of the store. Some additional info: I pressed the button on the key remote to activate the alarm as I was walking away from the car, but I did not actually see the lights flash as they normally do indicating the alarm is activated (my back was turned to the car). Also I heard no honking of the horn indicating an open door/compartment. My alarm seems to operate normally and I have pored over the owner's manual for ideas. What do you surmise happened to cause this? I can't seem to duplicate it. Did I leave a car door open and not realize it when I clicked to turn on the alarm? Did someone try to break in / steal the car but I simply did not hear the alarm go off...and the blaring horn stopped when I got back to the car? Will the CS factory alarm system go off if the car is bumped by another car, say in a parallel parking situation (though I see no evidence of damage)? ...or is it only if a door/trunk/hood is forced open when the alarm is active? I've ruled out interior motion sensor activating alarm (both windows were up and no person/pet was in inside the car). Lastly, the manual doesn't say if the alarm will go off if someone forcibly tries to move the car (i.e., tow or pull up on a flat bed) without actually entering the vehicle. This is one I'd really like to know...just curious. Any ideas gang? Thanks in advance...this has me perplexed?! Kevin

POST 2Original post

This happened to me the other day when I parked at the Beverly Center parking structure. When I came back after eating, my lights were flashing, there were no other cars around, I was freaking out. So I ran over to my car and look for any sights of a break in, or damage to the outside of the vehicle and I saw nothing??????? no clue what happened! Thinking it could have been someone with a really loud exhaust that drove by or something. I am just as perplexed as you!

POST 3Original post

Could this be similar? http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-complaints/12244-remote-failure-leads-embarrassment.html#post149055 i.e. some radio transmission from an outside source making the alarm go off?

POST 4Original post

Kever, Did you check if your turn signal was on? I accidentally bumped my turn signal upon exiting the car and it started the lights flashing when I tried to lock it with the remote. dacrunk

POST 6Original post

Thanks for the replies! I don't believe it was due to hitting the turn signal, because the parking lights on both sides were flashing...but I never thought of that possibility. Does anyone know if the alarm will go off if the car is moved while the alarm is active (i.e., towing)? Kever

POST 7Original post

A few days ago this happened again. I pulled in to an underground parking structure, parked, locked it, and went to my favorite sushi bar. When i came back my lights were flashing. It seems that all occurrences have been in some sort of parking structure
