I stopped by one of my local dealers for a problem which they fixed right away. I asked about the key sensitvity adjustment that I have read about in many threads. They laughed and told me that there is no adjustment in the key for sensitvity. They asked where I got such an idea. I told them about this website. They said that there is no adjustment. This came from my salesman as well as the service manager.
Idiots!
Please download and print the TSB (stands for Technical Service Bulletin - the magic words for getting things done by service departments) from our files section:
Unintentional Activations of Comfort Functions
Take it to the Service Manager of your dealer and ask them why they don't read their own TSBs!
Thanks--the service bulletin comes up as a pdf read only--any clues as how to print it
download/install the free pdf reader

It still won't let you print it.. that's how they come from Porsche. Maximize the file and use a screen capture utility... if you're on windows, just hit print screen, open "Paint" or similar picture editing program and hit edit>paste... crop out the page section and print.
Or on a mac, use the "Grab" utility and capture a selection.

Sorry, I forgot about that - as suneet noted above, you can either do a "print screen" (PrtScn button) capture and paste to Word or MS Paint, or similar program and then print it out - or, you could just take the TSB number/title into the dealer and tell them to look it up.
I can print it from a PowerBook.
Does anyone know if a new 2008 would have this fixed already or is this only for 06's. The TSB is dated 2/06 so thats why I'm asking.
Thanks,
-Larry
Note your dealer may have been confused by your terminology as there is no adjustment for key "sensitivity" - which they may have taken to mean how far away from the car your key will work.
What you want to say (if you don't want to take in the TSB) is you want them to change the button delay before the hood or hatch opens.
Starting in February 2006, the standard delay as shipped from the factory changed from 471 ms to 700 ms.
Your dealer can change that to be "long" (900 ms) or even extra long (1100 ms.)
Personally I'm happy with 700 ms as I haven't had an "accidental" pop yet and it's about the same delay as I had with my 2003 Boxster S.
2007s and 2008s come from the factory with a longer delay set (700ms), however you can still increase the delay to 900ms or 1100 ms if you feel you're still having the issue and as long as the dealer has Piwis version 16.0 or later.
Took my CS in last week with a request to the 'stealer' check the keys. I had been having trouble with lock and unlock. I push the button again and again and nothing was happening. Very frustrating. And made me feel foolish standing out in the parking lot zapping my car.
They said they'd check, but came back telling me that they could find nothing wrong. :argue: BUT...both keys work better than new!
When you speak of key sensitivity, does this describe your concern?
Just wondering.

my problem was everytime i put my key into a very loose fitting pant pocket my trunk would open--this has become very anoying---also the 1 key was the only thing in my pocket
:cheers:THANKS FOR ALL OF THE HELP FROM EVERYONE--YOU GUYS ROCK--the dealer had to eat a little crow--gave the excuse that in prior years there was no adjustment even though the service bulliten was dated 06--they said i was lucky to have a later modeled car--they also over fiilled my car with oil which they will remove next week----i gave them the cayman club website--maybe they will read it in the future:cheers:
