Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was just wondering how the turbo handles in the snow? Being 4 wheel drive i was thinking it will manage, just!

POST 2Original post

With winter tyres it would be just fine... I'm driving my 996 C4 in the snow every day here in Norway, and have no problems at all. Winter tyres, PSM and 4WD makes it more than managable. The turbos extra power shouldn't be an issue, as I'm suspecting that being an intelligent driver, you wouldn't blast along the snow covered roads on full throttle anyway My only concern regarding the turbo would be the lower ride height. So in my opinion, it only comes down to how deep the snow and how low your car is. That said, if you're not used to driving on snow and ice, it can be both frightening and dangerous, no matter what car you drive

POST 3Original post

Found my Turbo was great. Once found my path blocked by a car sliding down the hill backwards so had to try to stop and when I touched the brakes the car went into a skid but soon as I lifted off the PSM kicked in and pulled the car straight

POST 4Original post

I was out in mine the other day. My main problem actually being getting out of the garage as my drive was like an ice rink and I had trouble standing on it let alone driving. Once I was out it wasn't an issue. I normally use my car through the winter which has seen me out and about in the Cerbera and the Z3M Coupe in recent years. This being me getting the chains on a couple of years ago to get up to Argentiere for the days riding

POST 5Original post

I told you Andrew, you want a set of snow chains! At least someone understands

POST 6Original post

Think you could be right! Called about winter tyres and they need to go to manufacturer (as no one seems to keep them in stock) and they can't get them till January :frustrated: That Cayenne Turbo is starting to look like a viable option

POST 8Original post

 but not sure they will look like that when I take them off to put back in the bag - no virgin snow round here!

POST 9Original post

I think it is the same consumer "consideration" that led to Porsche supplying a plastic bag to put the original punctured wheel in when the spare is on ... and then suggesting your passengers all squash up in the back whilst the wheel gets the heated front seat treatment.

POST 10Original post

Did you watch the video of the fair maiden putting the cover on. The video shows the pit falls of the product and we all know the messing about trying to get the cover on was far more frustrating than the video led us to believe. I can see a few expletives being said for sure. Once on though, they looked effective and you don't have to worry about your wheels getting damaged either like I would with snow chains.

POST 11Original post

..erm what video? I see a lot of "movies" on t'internet.

POST 12Original post

They are good and I have used them on my Merc E class whilst on a skiing trip to La Tania a few years back. Someone did post though that the tyre width at the back of the 997 was larger than they supplied. Not sure on the 996 tyre size but I am sure they are probably the same. Worth checking.

POST 13Original post

Y'know, the one on your link. I think the image of the Camcorder gives it away. uh: As for watching a lot of movies, I think we all do/have at some point.
