What's up all!
Brand new to the forum and I'll be picking up my
Cayman
tonight. The biggest concern of mine right off the bat for this car is the sound system.
I want to upgrade. However, being that I'm leasing the vehicle, my options are a bit limited without breaking the bank. Since I'm a bass fanatic, I figured adding a powered sub would be the most cost-effective upgrade for the current moment.
Has anyone done an install of a powered sub on a factory
CDR24
/Sound Package Plus equipped vehicle? I'm looking at the Bazooka Bass Tubes.
I've done my own sound system installs in all my vehicles since I was 16, so I'm sure I can accomplish this myself. I just need to know how to tap into the system for speaker level inputs and how to run a line to the battery (I'm completely unfamiliar with where parts are in a
Cayman
). If you have any tips on this, I'm all ears.
But if you have a better solution for me, I'm open to all ideas. Thanks!
a20flat, welcome to club and I agree with you the sound package plus is lacking in the bass section. I've installed a power subwoofer as has Stevie to the sound package plus system. In the future, I suggest going to the sub-forum in which you are interested, and clicking search this forum. I searched "subwoofer" in electronics to find my old post with some directions to installing a subwoofer (which wires to tap, etc):

Also, this article from Stevie shows you can remove the side-sill and to facilitate wiring from the back to the front of the cabin:

Also, I strongly suggest you don't use bazooka basstubes, they sound like ****. The best powered subwoofer that I've had experience with is the infinity basslink series, should fit easily into the rear hatch less intrusively than the basstube. I would even say that the Kenwood that stevie and I used sounds better than the basstube, not as loud but much tighter bass, and it takes up way less space.

Thanks suneet for the info. Looks like you're the resident electronics guru around here, so good to hear from you. I tried to search, but came up empty. Maybe I should've dug a bit more. I'll let you all know how it turns out.
