Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. when for good thrash on saturday and noticed flashing light on guage, got home to notice lost some water, filled her back up let her get up to temp and think there is a small drip from back of front undertray i say think because it was still damp any ideas or common problems from that area,in past 12 months she has had header tank and a new rad, checked oil ect spot on and she has just had full service last week and everything was ok :dont know:

The original reservoir was changed about a year ago because of the usual split.

I know you said that the other had been changed recently, but for that price i'd be tempted to change both.

The level of coolant prior to today's top-up was about 3/4 of an inch below minimum and is still a clean pink colour.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Snap.
Although mine is due for full service next week so i have brought that forward. My warning light came on 10 minutes from home , temp guage was fine. Although i am low on oil after running the computer check.
Have just done a fast 2,500 miles in France and suspect that may have something to do with it.
Numpty question - but when you add the Porsche coolant do you mix it 1:1 with distilled water? I just topped up with a litre of undiluted pink porsche coolant and am still 2cm below the minimum.
Car hasnt been driven since the warning light on fri and it hasnt lost any of that coolant.... suggests only leaking when driven?
Fingers crossed its something minor..
(i noticed dripping from the back left of the car but its been so damp lately cant tell for sure)
To be safe i would take her back in for checkup. Shouldnt be loosing coolant.
Good luck.
Top your header back up and then get the car up to normal operating temperature by taking her for a spin, then pull over and have a good look around the car with the engine lid lifted. Other common failure is rear righthand hose where it rubs against the body and eventually wears through. Porsche have redesigned this and now the 997 replacement clears nicely.
Good luck!

The drip from the front undertray could be the condensation drain from the aircon. Look at the coolant tank cap in case it is faulty. The early ones do go wrong. Early cap numbers end on.00 or.01. The latest caps end in .04
Obviously the other radiator could have started leaking as well
thank god
let her get hot and only after giving her a good rev and messing with heater, not sure if there is a vavle or something to let water flow around left rad at certain temp but rad is pissing out,bit of a relief, wouldnt hav done any damage would it? temp light was normall and drove about 15 miles with light flashing
Thats reasonably good news given what else causes the water level to drop. If temp was normal then no damage should have been done by that, assuming your oil level was just low.
Is there an expected/excepted rate of coolant use?
I've just had to top my coolant level up as well, about 3/4 of a pint, for the second time in about 6 months, but I've never had to top-up the coolant level in my Sharan in 5 years.
I've had conflicting advice given in the past about sealed cooling systems, even to the extent that a perfectly sealed system should never need topping up.
The original reservoir was changed about a year ago because of the usual split. The level of coolant prior to today's top-up was about 3/4 of an inch below minimum and is still a clean pink colour.
I did the annual removal of leaves from the radiator inlets yesterday and noticed slight moisture at the bottoms of each rad, but it could have been from the leaf mulch I removed.
Re: thank god
Same thing happened to me on Friday! Came back from an hour blast around the local roads and, when I went back out to wash it noticed a steady flow of coolant from o/s/f area.
I know it had a n/s rad about this time last year before I bought it, so I half expected that i'd be replacing the other one eventually.
Gonna take the bumper off on Sunday or Monday, just to check it is the rad, then i'll be calling on my warranty provider to have it replaced. Just hope this doesn't lead to the next weakest link in the cooling system to go pop!
Heres hoping!
Patgas,
Just found this on Type 911.
Has anyone on here used these rads before and are they any good? If for any reason my warranty won't pay out i'll be ordering one of these!

Not sure, thats why i'm shopping around for one! What do you think of this rad from type 911?

These are probably Behr radiators which are OEM parts so you'll be fine. The radiator you remove from your car is also a Behr one. Email them just to confirm. Check out

where I got mine, they are usually the cheapest. I ordered by phone and they guy charged me less for postage than on the website.
That sounds a good price, cheaper than I'd been led to believe they were.
I know you said that the other had been changed recently, but for that price i'd be tempted to change both. seeing as you will have the front of the car off.
