Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

Suggestion

Interstingly Richard, there is an article in this months Total 911 on page 29 talking about exhaust sound tuning and explaining that Porsche had to change the tips on the latest DI cars to a design that helped remove ugly soot deposits that were building up on the old tips, so your decoke thought might hold.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Will ask again does anyone have any knowledge of the new engines ie ones with out IMS, I would like to know a little more about them, many thanks Mike Brown :?:

POST 2Original post

Looks like they have tried to eliminate the problem areas by removing the intermediate shaft, supporting the liners all the way to the top, etc, etc. It will be interesting to see how the direct injection works out, as problems with direct injection Cayennes needing old fashioned de-cokes. I've got the 997 Gen2 Service Information Technik. If you drop me a PM with your email address I'll send you the engine section.

POST 3Original post

I've only read what you have I expect but the main differences seem to be no IMS (I doubt any of us will miss that) and a closed deck for the liners / head interface rather than the open deck. Ironically this seems to be very similar to the Autofarm/Capricorn long term solution to the liner problem. (which somehow makes me feel better about my sillsleeve engine, if not the cost) Interstingly Richard, there is an article in this months Total 911 on page 29 talking about exhaust sound tuning and explaining that Porsche had to change the tips on the latest DI cars to a design that helped remove ugly soot deposits that were building up on the old tips, so your decoke thought might hold. Only time will tell.
