Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quite depressing to see adds like this one, it will bring an all new breed of driver to the Porsche scene added to the fact it makes our cars look lesser value than they are. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1408337.htm Absolute bargain. **EDIT**heh hem.. I mean absolute scam! (Thanks Lexy)

POST 2Original post

Don't worry it's a scam. There's an earlier thread with all the details. Cheers

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I did think scam in the back of my mind but it won't be long and they'll drop under 10k. However, if they do I don't reckon they will ever go under 7.5k. I mean, I'd buy it, strip it out, couple of bucket seats & a roll-cage to turn it into a serious weekend trackday fun car. If they do go below, surely one would hope they would eventually go back up as a classic.

POST 4Original post

Too many 996 Carreras made for them to ever reach classic status. Nor do I think Turbos or GT3 Mk2's will. I think it's probably only the Mk1 GT3, GT3RS, and possibly GT2 that might EVENTUALLY get in to that catagory. Just my 2p's worth.

POST 5Original post

Let's hope all these newbies run them on 95RON, miss a few oil changes, DIY servicing and race them from cold. Should thin the heard, or make Baz a millionaire!

POST 7Original post

The thing is, if you watch Antiques Roadshow (not me you understand, a friend saw it and told me what happens on it etc etc), sometimes the most valuable antiques are the boring everyday items that everyone HAD, but also almost everyone threw away or broke or used up. So the pristine toy car or train still in its box is worth a fortune (many multiples of its original price), even though they made squillions of them. When my 996 gets to 100 years old and 80k miles it will be worth a fortune! Then I can sell it and pay back the OPC "equity release" maintenance scheme I have signed up for.
