Just took the first drive after installing the
Sprint Booster
and am wondering what level people are choosing for regular weekend driving. Am really happy with the sport 5 level, seems to be where the car should have been originally but am curious what others have been experiencing.
P. S.
Best mod I have done after the exhaust!
Sport 5 is what I settled on as well.
I didn't know they now have 5 assist selections. I installed my
Sprint Booster
way back in 2010.It only had 3 settings [Off, medium, and "Stay outta my way!!!!" ]. I'm nearly always using medium. Seems perfect for daily driving. Don't know why I'd need more.
BTW, I installed my switch in the console cubby. On a vacation trip I set my phone in the cubby and it accidentally rested on the button. So the car started cycling through the settings. I'm cruising along at 70+MPH and the car would would get sluggish, then normal, and then briefly surge, then back to sluggish.... I thought I was having engine problems and pulled off the interstate to look for the nearest dealer. I picked-up my phone and the problem went away. Then I saw the red light and knew immediately (medium setting is green).
Yeah, the new one has "sport" and "race" modes, but then each one has settings 1-9 to allow a degree of fine-tuning.
Mine is so old there are no settings. It's either installed or not. Feeling a little jealous.
Sport 5 is fair in mine; but i've actually ended up in Race1 - and then removed (Unplugged) the controller.
It was the furthest i could push-it......without risking launching myself out of junctions ! (**Sunny Sunday use only - NOT a daily).
Any difference in the automatic vs manual trans setting
Is anyone running the automatic setting on a manual trans car for example?
I just installed mine, sport 6 seems good for now but don’t know if switching from auto to manual does anything on a 6MT

So, the
Sprint Booster
isn't just some placebo gimmick? It's legitimately worth it?
I’d say so, it’s a remarkable difference. Even just in sport (green) mode. The car undeniably picks up pace more quickly, much more responsive.
1st gear starts are easier - the throttle doesn’t bog down
Rev matching is significantly easier and honestly was the main reason I went with one of these things

My
Sprint Booster
is one of the originals without settings. It's either installed or not. It most certainly helps eliminate the throttle lag during step off. I seem to recall there was a 30 day return policy, at least there used to be, so trying one involves a few minutes of your time. Nothing to lose really, assuming that return policy still exists. If you don't like it or think it doesn't help, return it.
Would I be better served to use the money I would have spent on a
Sprint Booster
towards an ECU tune?
My opinion is if you have the money to do an ECU tune then that's the way to go. I'm retired and on a fixed income so that wasn't a wise spending option for me.
noob question - does this do the same thing as the sports mode button?
or is it just throttle mapping?
