I was staring at the car last night and realized that, aside from the lines, the beauty of this car is in it's clean simplicity.

Several days ago I had a moment of clarity, and called the striping shop to have them change the black stripes to silver.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If in had to choose 1 - I’d go with the first pic and flat black stripes but I’d taper the front of the stripe.
# 2 through 5 look to busy for me.
something like this appeals more to me and I personally think silver goes better with blue. I’m assuming base color of your car is blue ?
Not sure if you tried looking at this site.

@Jim137a
I do like the stripes in your photo, but I need to hide some paint damage until I find enough expendable dosh to pay for a respray. This is the sole reason I am going with wider stripes (more coverage). Yes, the car is cobalt blue metallic. I did stumble across KI Studios, and gained a bit of inspiration from their work.
@CaptainSlow
You didn't mention #1? I'm assuming it was a no-go for you?
@RedTex
I'm with you on this one, but as I said to Jim, I need striping that will have more coverage.
With your color & wheels the silver on #1 rocks - way to go !
No way flat black unless you had black wheels. Even then it dulls the super paint too much.
@Augie
Are you saying that all the stripes should be silver instead of black? I've never had graphics that were flat black. From what I understand, the minute you get wax on flat black, you basically end up with a permanent semi-gloss. So, I might as well start with a semi-gloss.
@Budman
I was staring at the car last night and realized that, aside from the lines, the beauty of this car is in it's clean simplicity. The less busy approach seems to be applicable here, doesn't it?
@CaptainSlow

#1 is fine too. I guess that one threw me off a bit because the stripe covered the Porsche logo, so it didn't look quite right. Stripes aren't for me, but they are fun to see on cars once in awhile.
@Deemar
I would love to wrap the entire car, and I inquired about doing so, but the sticker price about gave me a heart attack.
Well said regarding the stripes accentuating the current lines. Argh...decisions, decisions...
I like #2 - it's "interesting" where the others are pretty traditional. I also think it's much better in "shiney" vs "flat" if you do go with black. I do agree that if you're looking for stripes, silver or white goes better on a dark blue car. It's all about personal preferences tho, none of the proposals are outlandish or really ugly. Pick the one YOU like best
Here is my Cayman S. Wide stripes. The 564 number on right front hides a paint defect. Not sure where your damage is, but you might be able to cover it with a number or perhaps match and wrap just the hood.
It would help if we knew where the damage is that you're trying to hide. Personally, I like Jim137a's narrower silver best, but you say it won't work for the damage. Failing that, I'd do #1, but with silver stripes outlined in gloss black. Silver just looks so good on blue! I'm not a fan of flat black anything, nor of asymmetrical anything.
@SuperChief05
That's a darn good looking car you have there!
@daffodildeb
Several days ago I had a moment of clarity, and called the striping shop to have them change the black stripes to silver. Unfortunately for me, they had already ordered and taken possession of the materials as originally specified. The good news is that the stripes are not covered by clear-bra. They only put it on the areas where original paint is showing through. So, if I ever change my mind, swapping out colors won't be a huge ordeal.
Having said that, here is a sneak preview of the car. Sorry for the poor photo. It was raining when I picked it up:
1. The back actually looks great, way better than I imagined and I'm curious to see what the front looks like. I like the smaller side stripes a lot.
2. Why did the shop cut around the
Cayman
logo? That looks terrible, they should have popped if off and put it back on top of the stripes. Or I would have just left it off completely, it would look a lot cleaner without the badge.
@Deemar
I actually really like the back. It's the nose that I'm not exactly sure about. They did a very nice job on the car though. Everyone does the same-old, same-old. We decided to cut around the logo just to be different. I'll take another picture of just the logo.
On your suggestion, I'll be adding some accent striping. They didn't order enough material to execute my last minute request.
It's interesting that there is such a divide on striping. Seems like 50% absolutely hate it, and 50% like it. Nothing in-between.
Here mine... Not a body wrap but accents. They tend to last about 2 years before getting tired. Will change the look again then to keep her fresh. Best botox mod for me are the
718
style tail lights.
I got them direct from the Taiwan manufacturer. Brand is Sonar. Fog lights on both sides and sequential turn indicators. I think it really modernizes the car.
I see you're in the States, search on ebay. I've seen them there as well. Try to find out the manufacturer. Sonar and one other brand I can;t recall are supposed to be very reliable.
Sonar is a perfect fit and super easy to install as well.
@wmclarenf1
Thanks! I did some digging, but came up empty handed.
@bigmoguls
It's actually a satin finish. I was going to go with a matte black, but then figured I would get some wax on it sooner or later, which would then change it to satin.
Here's one. Don't know who makes this though.
The other Taiwanese manufacturer is Depo.
