Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have seen this where the car was originally running on thicker viscosity & when serviced they used a slightly thinner oil.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

...smoke has started firing from my exhaust. I've just got it back after it had a major service, and a 'blue smoke' cloud has started appearing on startup. Could this be linked to it being overfilled with oil? Is this normal after a service? It clears up by the time I've backed out of my drive, but it's more than a little embarrasing when your pride and joy looks like a knacked Nova on startup!

POST 2Original post

I have seen this where the car was originally running on thicker viscosity & when serviced they used a slightly thinner oil. I would say it isn't anything to worry about, the engine being a flat 6 can be prone to getting a few drips of oil into the combustion chambers which will burn off during start up giving a Blue cloud. Resolve = thicken up oil using an additive or swap oil

POST 3Original post

Mine does this aswell, i noticed it was slightly overfilled with oil, a few people have told me it is not unusual for this to happen. The smoke does clear after a minute or so, i must say it is a bit worrying especially after reading about engines letting go etc. Could this be a air/oil seperator valve problem i have heard of ?

POST 4Original post

Bit of an update, i went in to my local opc today and spoke to one of the guy's about this problem, his words were not to worry and they get loads of people in mentioning it. common problem but as long as the smoke clears after a min or two then no worries cheers.
