I have seen a company that will fit a system into your car to run your ipod but at £400 it's not cheap, the CD player must have a stereo output going to the radio is it not possible to connect a jack plug to run a MP3 player from this ?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

:?: I have a 2003 996 with the bose system and 6 CD player, the problem is I don't use CD's any more as all my music is on MP3. I have seen a company that will fit a system into your car to run your ipod but at £400 it's not cheap, the CD player must have a stereo output going to the radio is it not possible to connect a jack plug to run a MP3 player from this ? Any thoughts Andy

POST 2Original post

This is the quickest and cheapest way to do it, Scroll down the page a bit until you come to the iTrips. http://www.itripstore.co.uk/category/311/ipod_itrips_fm_transmitters.htm HTH

POST 3Original post

Have a look at this link, for the sake of £30 its worth a go http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/IPOD-IPHONE-2...cles_Terminals_Cabling_ET?hash=item518ea0d4b2

POST 4Original post

Hi CDR22 has lots more options, but sounds like you've got a CDR23 head unit which is MOST fibre optic. Only options are either an iTrip adaptor or a MOST compatible unit such as Mobridge or Dension. It is one of the more annoying challenges. I have a Mobridge which works well but like you say was a bit pricey. Cartronics in Surrey fitted it for me. Plenty of old threads on the forum J

POST 5Original post

Would recommend mobridge. They very occasionally come up on ebay for £200 / £250 and they're not difficult to fit yourself.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So how do know what head unit I have ?

POST 7Original post

It's written on the front of the head unit, just below the CD slot I think (edited: I got all 1980s and put down Cassette not CD, my bad)

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just had a look and i think i have the porsche PCM 2 sat nav head unit what are my options now then and the £30 option won't work Andy

POST 9Original post

PCM2 is MOST so same options as CRD23; iTrip/ Mobridge/Dension. At least you'll get the iPod tracklists on the screen with easy controls

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It his what i need ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dension-Gatew...S_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP?hash=item19b83017aa At £255 it's not bad, how easy is it to fit ? also found several at £330 did also find it at $250 form the US with postage anyone used this route ? Andy

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

will this one be compatible and if so what is the difference between to two, this one is from the US and works out a lot cheaper (around £150 with postage) also found the same saving in Europe http://cgi.ebay.com/Dension-Porsche...emQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2a02f0b35c ebay is great !! Andy

POST 13Original post

Hi Andy This is an add-on that's not really of use to you as PCM2 will give you all you need as is. Don't forget you've got to get it fitted and possibly the MOST ring enabled before it'll work. Do you have the CD Multichanger? If so you shouldn't need to get the program enabled. James

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes I do have cd changer also what is MOST

POST 15Original post

MOST is the name of the fibre optic transport system installed in your car....stands for Media Oriented Systems Transport but that's not important right now! James
