Now OPC Hatfield changed my plugs a few thousand miles ago and told me that a couple of coils needed changing, but they didn't tell me about any faulty connectors.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Finally got the last pencil coil out thanks to Lloyd's suggestion of using a ring spanner with the T30 bit. However, I was surprised at how easy the connector came off. Now it's off I can see why. The connector plastic loop that secures it onto the pencil coil has snapped off and the connector looks wet inside. Now OPC Hatfield changed my plugs a few thousand miles ago and told me that a couple of coils needed changing, but they didn't tell me about any faulty connectors. Knowing how slippery they are, and I can't prove they damaged it anyway, I need to consider how to keep the connector securely in place with the plastic ring no longer available. Anyone got any ideas on how to properly secure the connector onto the pencil coil? Ray :x

POST 2Original post

The parts list for the coil packs shows a "connector housing", part number 999.652.916.40 at £5.58 +VAT. I assume that's the part that's broken on yours.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Richard, that's cool, I wonder how it is replaced though, any ideas??? BTW, might be down in Bristol next week, might pop in if you are about cheers Ray

POST 4Original post

Not sure without seeing it, but the contact terminals are usually held in by a small tag. If you can get a watchmaker's screwdriver under the tag, it might pop out. Note the careful use of the words "usually" and "might". I should be about most of next week. The kettle is always ready for action. I'll PM you with my contact numbers.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OPC tell me it's a whole new loom required at £900 + vat  ....... :what: A tie wrap it is then................. Ray
