Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Im almost embarassed to ask this question but the missus is insisting on parking-sensors... ive recently sold the 1 car we shared (cayenne - we have a dog , no kids yet..) and replaced it with a 996 on the agreement we get a cheap 2nd car for taking pooch to the park and picking up the spuds from Sainsburys. On the one hand not having them means she isnt wanting to drive the car ( :thumb: ) but eventually she will and it will end up kissing a Mondeo or a lampost without them.... Porsche say they will only allow 1 type of retrofit - cruise control - if wanting a Porsche warranty. I could get their warranty 1st then have after mkt sensors or what not added but that would mean in a year im screwed. Should i just go for indie warranties? Im concerned about resale and limiting myself. Do indie warranties put people off? can anyone recommend a one. and a company to do retrofits? cheers :thumb: (oh , the Porsche Centre salesgirl told me theyre getting very strict and even non-original alloys or any after mkt add-ons , ie anything not original porsche , would mean it doesnt pass the 111 check...)

POST 2Original post

She's right. Tyres, batteries you name it. Even parts which are not covered by the warranty in the first place i.e. brake discs. If they are not original then you don't get the warranty.

POST 3Original post

I don't think it would work to get the warranty first and then have parking sensors fitted - as soon as you had them fitted it would completely invalidate the warranty. Forgive me for forgetting who it was, but someone on here was refused a warranty because of aftermarket parking sensors - WHICH THE OPC HAD FITTED when he bought the car (new)!!!

POST 4Original post

I would have thought a none official cruise control unit would also invalidate the warranty.

POST 5Original post

I had the extended warranty refused on my 2004 Boxster S because of the Tracker that the supplying OPC fitted for the previous (first) customer. And I'd only bought it from an OPC in the first place because I wanted the Porsche warranty.
