when I only want to exchange the tensioners on a 1998 C2 996, do I still have to set TDC?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I will get the book when it is available.
However... if you want a great shop manual for your garage common fixes, repairs and maintenance, get the Bentley 996 service manual.

Amazon has it listed now for November 2013?

Living in Wisconsin, I like to work on my car when it's warm out. If it's published in November, I'll have to wait until spring 2014 to even use it!

patience grasshopper:-) it's been a while but it will be worth it.
Me too but at the end of the day, its all in the marketing detail in the contract.
Amazon might sell cheaper by cutting out the middle man, not Wayne the author but Pelican Part so the end profit to Wayne could be the same.
The reverse is the same, PP sell Elephant Racing part the same price as Elephant Racing it self, in that case it was more convenient for me to order through PP so I got free delivery on the the other stuff that would not have add up to $75
