Surely by now one of the supercharged cars that is in the works is running. How about a progress report????
yep, I too would be interested to see dyno results from a SC or Norton-type engine swap Cayman.
I know there are a couple of people on here that have made these changes...anyone?
AFAIK there are ony 2, one that RUF has done, and one that VF Engineering has done for the SEMA show. You can buy the RUF one, you cannot buy the VF one, at least not yet anyway. The Orton one has not materialized and the original purchaser is at odds with Orton over the refund as covered in another thread topic.
do i hear VF Engineering as a site sponsor once they release it for sale??
I am also interested in seeing those #s
I seen the VF's car( Sonny car)... the supercharger is SWEET!!
but i never seen the car runs ..
i checked VF's website and they claim 450 bhp for the supercharger...i want to know a price
r u sure about 450? i checked and its only 383.92hp and 275.33 torque.
http://www.vf-engineering.com/index.php?v=/media_sonycayman.php
maybe they did more modifications, which website did u see it from ?
450 bhp is horsepower at the crank....which translate to 383 at the wheels
How do you figure that number out?
I thought the drivetrain loss was less in a mid engined car?
Actually, closer to 20% is more of the standard number for a typical front engine car with rear wheel drive.
I’m surprised no one from here has stepped up for a sc yet.
From the threads and my email from the customer, Orton’s 3.8 conversion seemed ill-fated from the beginning since he didn’t install it and the ecu wasn’t part of the deal.
I seem to remember someone having the SC from Orton installed on this board. If memory serves me correct, he too was having issues with his system. Thats 0 for 2 from Orton....if anyone's counting...
Actually to be fair, there was a customer in South Africa that had some problems with the Orton 3.8 swap, but again, it wasn't performed by Orton at Orton's shop and I don't know what the final outcome was. With regard to the supercharger there is supposedly one test mule running around Germany somewhere, but no actual customer cars as of yet. The first customer car unit was not delivered as originally promised/planned and the customer is seeking a refund of the money fronted.
