I disconnected the connector during the short shifter conversion.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect connector during the short shifter conversion' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'center console airbag light being unplugged' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust anything' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Once I have it repaired, I will post the problem - thanks for the concern!

The second time the light came on, I went back and they replaced the seat cushion frame because they believed the frame was somehow bent.

Suggestion
I had my airbag code cleared the other day; It was due to the center console airbag light being unplugged but I did not tell the dealer that cuz I didn't wanna pay anything; they said the code was undefined, meaning the computer could not specify what had malfunctioned; and they said they checked all connections and cleared the light.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

On the way home from work, I noticed my red air bag warning light on the dash of my 06 CS came on. I searched the forum, and adjusted both the driver seat and passanger seat (forward and backward) and both inclined away away from firewall, but to no avail. Has anyone else had this? Am I missing something?
UPDATE:
The first time I went to the dealership, they cleared the code and it stayed away. The second time the light came on, I went back and they replaced the seat cushion frame because they believed the frame was somehow bent. The third trip back they found out that it was a pinched/shorted wire under the seat. They repaired that and I *knock on wood* have not had the warning light since.
Well if you have moved the seats forward, no mods I guess you could check the fuses. If you take it to the dealer be sure and report back for the rest of us.
The Owner's Manual also has this "
If there is a fault in the belt-tensioner system, the
airbag warning light lights up. Work may be performed on the belt-tensioner system
only by an authorized Porsche dealer."
I have a visit to the dealer scheduled - no highway trips till it gets checked out! Once I have it repaired, I will post the problem - thanks for the concern!
Fixed?
I brought the car in today and just picked it up. They reset the computer and the light went out. I asked if I could have possible done something to trigger the warning light and he said that as long as I didn't let someone who weighed 800 lbs in the seat, he didn't think so! Well, since I have had the car, no one over 200lbs has been in that seat. He said if the light comes on again, they might have to replace one of the four sensors in the seat. Hopefully, it was something bizarre that happened and it won't come back on - keeping my fingers crossed.
My airbag malfunction light on the dash came on about ten days ago after I ran the
battery
flat by not driving the car for a week and not using the Porsche
battery tender
during that week.
I tried everything I could think of including disconnecting the
battery
again for ten minutes but none of that work. The local dealers (400 miles away) said, "Bring it in for us to reset the computer."
Yesterday I used the Durametric software to reset that malfunction and several others that occurred when my
battery
went flat.
After installing mine last weekend, I decided to take it around the block to see if I needed to adjust anything before I reinstalled the console... And then the warning light came on. It came on as soon as I started the car up.
Using the "Computer Stalk" on the left side of the Steering column, I navigated to something called "messages?" and it said "airbag malfunction". After I reinstalled the console the message went away, but the airbag dash light remains.
It's also possible that the little
plug
to the passenger airbag warning light in the console came loose. This is probably the system component that's unhappy.
So... yes. The answer is yes.
Yeah. That's what I was thinking, too. Disconnecting the center console light may have upset the warning light. The other thing I though would be the seats all the way back but after moving them, light is still on. So did you take it into the dealership to have them reset the light?
TIA
recall
I got an airbag warning recently. Turned out to be a recall item - something with the wiring harness for the airbag?? Not quite sure, but the dealership fixed it n/c.
Did you by any chance give your mother in law a ride in the car? That could explain an airbag warning.....
(teasing, assuming you have a mother in law, I'm sure she's a sweat lady.
)
That would've been funny if that had been the case! In fact, it occurred the next day after I had shown one of my non-auto enthusiast friends the car. The kind of guy who thinks cars are only for getting from point A to B, and basic transportation is all that is needed. I don't think the Cayman liked him
I took it in and they hooked it up to their
PIWIS
thing and cleared it. They agreed that it was the passenger light being unplugged that probably upset the computer. After going to the H2R track event today, all is still well, so I'm pretty sure it won't be coming back.

Having not driven the car for 5 weeks (working overseas), my
battery
was dead and now the airbag light is on. How can I reset the computer? Where is the computer located in the CS? Would unplugging the computer for a few minutes reset it?
Try disconnecting the
battery
(once it's charged, or you have a new one) an let it sit for about 10 minutes... if that doesn't work, you'll need to have a dealer clear it, unless you have a
PIWIS
or a Durametric code reader.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I disconnected the connector during the short shifter conversion. I did not turn the car on until it was fully reassembled and the light was there. Had the "airbag malfunction" message. I cleared the message and it did not return. I'm going to take it to the dealer if the 10 min
battery
disconnect does not work.
