Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Torx bit shafts are 6.1mm so this means you may need to press it into the 6mm ring using the vice - mine won't come apart now but found it quite useful the way it is.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Just fixed the problem myself, at least for the middle coil.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm struggling to get the pencil coils out :nooo: :frustrated: :whiteflag: , my 'star bit' needs a socket on it, then with the ratchet and adapter on it makes it too long for the middle one, haven't even tried the one at the back yet........... :dont know: Anyone know of a suitable tool, maybe a standard allen style key with a star bit might do the job. Anyone done it with the exhausts still in place :?: Ray

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just fixed the problem myself, at least for the middle coil. It's a T 30 star bit and a small hex socket that fits on my small ratchet. Yes and the middle one is completely shot, hopefully this is the source of my problem! Ray

POST 3Original post

Idea What I have done in the past is pushed a 6mm ring spanner onto a torx bit to get you the allen key like tool. Torx bit shafts are 6.1mm so this means you may need to press it into the 6mm ring using the vice - mine won't come apart now but found it quite useful the way it is. :thumb:

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lloyd you're a star! I've ordered a tool from an internet tool supplier so hopefully it will arrive at the same time as your pencil coils. Now that I've found one of them badly corroded and split I feel a lot happier that nothing is too serious. cheers Ray
