Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My carpool rider has been in NorCal since last Wednesday so I've been driving the pcar all week. I love it, though traffic has been really bad so far this week, I've been able to jump in those tiny traffic gaps with no problems. Unfortunately, tomorrow is my last day of fun.

POST 2Original post

Dosent always have to be the last day... always can make excuses

POST 3Original post

Daily driving the 996 day in, day out, day in, day out, DAY IN, DAY OUT, DAY IN, DAY OUT.....(Joy Division)

POST 4Original post

Mine IS the daily driver until I buy a daily driver. Should see the looks I get from people when I'm out in the pouring rain scuzzing it up

POST 6Original post

Daily driver except on days when I take her for granted...on those days I drive my truck to remind me how great the P-Car is...love flourishes all over again. The best is driving a C2 (with winter tires of course) in a snow storm. You get odd looks. I tell people, what ? It has four tires, an engine and a steering wheel like every other car, why couldn't you take it out in the snow ???

POST 7Original post

since '92 I have "daily driven" and though I don't drive them in the winter, I have accumulated over 194,000 miles on my two P cars. I really miss them in the winter.

POST 8Original post

Just purchased my 996 but I plan on driving it in the winter. Will be ordering snow tires soon.

POST 9Original post

I use mine as a weekend/fun car. But yesterday, my 2yr old daughter said "Daddy, can we go in the por she car today" That's all I had to hear, drove it all day yesterday and will again today. Sometimes I forget what a great car it is.

POST 10Original post

I would never take mine out in the snow. It's only seen rain once. That's what my Audi S4 is for. Sounds pretty cool though! I think its great that you drive it all year long.

POST 11Original post

Very impressive, a Joy Division reference pre New Order days

POST 12Original post

I do get a twinge now and again when I'm driving in the snow and think about the salt..... but it passes and I realize I love driving and I really love driving the 996. I think the ultilitarian aspect of these cars (kid seats, drivability in traffic and weather) is what really makes them stand out from other performance marques.

POST 13Original post

I drive about 100 miles a day in my '99...accumulated 22K this year alone, approaching 82K. Driving it everyday makes the commute worthwhile

POST 15Original post

15,000 miles since I got my '02 C2 in May. Daily 70 mile commute, plus trips to Monterey, San Francisco, San Diego and the Silver State (twice). I wouldn't want to drive anything else (that I could afford).

POST 16Original post

Are you afraid it's going to melt like the Wicked Witch? What a waste! Get in the car and drive it! With the galvanizing on today's cars, salt won't really be an issue for a LONG time. It'll rust out your mufflers and some nuts and bolts faster, but those are all easily replaceable, and it won't happen very fast anyway.

POST 17Original post

One member had a signature line that read "Happiness is two Porsches"....that would be great, one garage queen and one daily b*tch....would suit my schizophrenic personality

POST 18Original post

Yeah! All you members of the 100k mile club rock!! I've got 40k to go before the 996 gets there but for the 88 Carrera 100k is right around the corner.

POST 19Original post

That's me!! It's a tough call for me. My first Porsche was my Boxster (Garage Queen and Track *****). This car has never seen snow and very rarely see's rain. In some respects that's unfortunate because that often forces it to sit in the garage. My Carrera is my Daily Driver and future Track *****. It excels as a DD in rain, snow, and sun and I find it amazing how practical Porsche has made a car that can still perform at the levels that it can. Some day down the road, the Boxster will become the "sun only car", the Carrera will get a cage and become a "trailer to the track" car, and a new (yet to be named Porsche will be purchased to be the "daily driver". Unfortunately I think I really "need" at least three!! It really is a sickness

POST 20Original post

I love that band. Even their current stuff (Siren's Song). What's scary is my kid likes them too. Yeah, not worried about the body, but I'd like my car's underbody to look like Orient Express'. Lot's nicer to work on a clean car like that.

POST 21Original post

Totally agree. Kinda freaky that an 80's band as alternative as New Order would spark interest in the new generation of kids. Very scary. I remember seeing New Order in Austin back in 90 during the Technique tour during my freshman year of undergrad. Never thought I would hear a new album from them 15 years later. One of my top 5 all time bands. (I am counting JD and NO as the same band )

POST 22Original post

I drive my 996 each and every day...and every bit the 5 miles back and forth to the office... Just a shame I don't have a longer commute. I will probably put 7K on it this year!

POST 23Original post

Wow. That's a good looking car you got there Kevin. The wheels look great on it. I kinda happened into color-matched wheels on my car(black) and the look has definitely grown on me. Wouldn't work without the polished rims imo.

POST 24Original post

I drive mine every day. I bought a 2001 C2 Cab 2months ago that had 9,000 miles on it. It now has 12,800. I've loved every mile. But absolutely no rain. Rain bad. Fire bad. Sun good.

POST 26Original post

EXACTLY!!! However, most important...no one was hurt...just the car

POST 28Original post

No, I am going with the Techart look sides...it is the same setup that Dan and VividRacing did on their yellow 996 (w/o the wing)...see pics.

POST 29Original post

I drive my 04C4S cabriolet everywhere in all kinds of weather.

POST 30Original post

I have been driving all my P-Cars as a daily driver into NYC for the last 15 years. I have not had one problem, I feel since there is nothing like it, why should I not enjoy it.

POST 31Original post

Drove my 986 for 93,000 miles. As a daily driver, it was more reliable than when I laid off it and drove another car. My 996 is driven a little during the week and on the weekends, I drove it all last week and decided not to drive it this week when I "forgot" I was in the 911 for a second in traffic. I enjoy the fact that it's "special" at all times to me. When I forget how cool it is, it's time to put it away and refresh my memory with life in the Jag. World of difference. Both are great cars, but there really is no substitute!

POST 32Original post

I think member with more that 100 k (Km or miles) shoulld add the tag "Member of 100K Club" to their signatures. Making something to shoot for the rest of us.

POST 35Original post

Saw the same tour Dell. It was great. Interesting, you want to talk about odd? I just got back from England where I saw the Human League in a comeback tour. Holy cow. Can't believe that 80s bands are popular again. Maybe it has to do with the ability to actually play instruments as opposed to humming along with computer synthesized beats. Then again, what do I know?

POST 36Original post

Mine has been my daily driver for 3 years. I have owned several BMW's and a firebird with 500 hp but never have I owned a car that I enjoy being in so much. After a long hard day, I look forward to dropping the top and driving home. Erands are a blast because I get to drive the Porsche. And don't forget...its a family car and the 4 of us use it frequently. The kids love riding in the "cool car".
