Often times, I get in the car, depress the clutch, insert the key in the ignition, turn the key but nothing happens. I then remove the key, start again and it usually works the second time, but sometimes it needs a third or fourth try before the car starts. Is this the sign of some electrical part about to fail? Has anyone else encountered this?

Make sure that you haven't accidentally triggered the security system. I've done the same thing and realized I clicked my remote, and set the security system without noticing that I did.

Hello, You may want to check the floor mats location. The mats or added non factory ones can work their way up toward the pedal assemble. When you depress the clutch it can hit the floor mat and not fully disengage the clutch switch. You can also adjust this switches arm if it is acting up. Best, Scott Slauson

This happens to me all the time with my automatic. It may be some sort of problem between the ignition and starter. It always works after removing the key and trying again.

My car does the same thing on occassion, I just turn the key all the back to the left and try again and she always starts. sometimes I turn the key and there is a delay and if I continue to hold the key its starts, sort of a odd thing but it has never not started.
