I have a 2005, 987 that would blow smoke every time a started it. On top of that it lose power when I down shifted it. I took it down to Pfaff porsche turns out I needed new plugs,MAS and an Oil Seperator. Everything but the plugs was coverd under the Warrenty.
What is a MAS? I too have a 2005 987 2.7 and I have been experience much more smoke/exhaust when starting up lately. I go to Pfaff as well and they told me it was normal. I have not noticed any power loss though. Any additional info would be appreciated.
Hello Timlb, my check engine light came on and my car started to lose power so i took it to Pfaff. I ended up getting new spark plugs, oil seperator and a Massive Air Flow sensor. Everything but the plugs was covered under warrenty. Now when I start up my Boxster no more smoke! Pfaff did a great job just don't let them wash your car I got a few swirl marks as a result.
Thanks for the reply, I always take my car to them pretty clean and ask them not to clean it for that reason. I like going to them, they usually look after me well. I love your colour, it is one of my top choices. Did you take advantage of any of the 09 997.2 drives recently at Pfaff? I did and it was a blast.
Timlb,Thanks Man, I always wanted polar silver but when I saw Seal Gray Metalic it was a no-brainer. I missed the test drive how did it compare to your Boxster? I know a master machanic in Portperry. His shop rate is around $80/h he did some work on a bimmer of mine. Worth a look!
The new 911 PDK is impressive but I like the feel of my Boxster. The steering always feels tighter to me probably due to the weight distribution on the Boxster / Cayman. I think my next car probably will be a Cayman. Driving the Base compared to the S really doesn't seem to make a big difference. I guess I like how the 911 is iconic compared to the Boxster but it is hard to justify the price difference because the Boxster is so balanced.
I think you are right, I will need to find another mechanic rather than paying hefty prices at Pfaff once the warranty is up. Port Perry is a little far as I live in the east end of Toronto.
timlb, thats a tuff call. On a hot summer day you can't beat a drop top. I guess if you want a better track car the Cayman is the way to go!
