Hi all,
My CS was struck in the parking lot while I was working, the perpetrator apparently drove off. This was during the first month at my new job. Annoyingly it was in the employee lot for the hospital, so either a college was to blame or quite possibly an ill elderly patient driving a car twice the size of mine. Anyway with no one to point the finger at I filed a claim with my insurance company, Progressive, who actually handled the matter surprisingly well in comparison to my prior experience with this provider.
The damage involved the passenger side door and front fender. Prestige
Audi
/Porsche replaced the panels and painted them and I was satisfied with the work. I didn't drive the car at highway speeds for 3-4 weeks after the repairs. When I did I heard an air leak at the location of the passenger side window. This reminded me that as I was leaving the shop the employee told me to "come back if you have any problems or air leaks". So I returned about a month after the work was originally done. They welcomed me and brought the car into their shop for 15 mins or so. They returned saying that they had made some adjustments and tested it not to have an air leak. On my way home from the shop it was clear there was no difference and the air leak was still present. I have not bothered to go back. If I were even able to it would be late spring considering the weather.
So I was thinking of taking my CS to a different Porsche shop to get the problem resolved. And to back track a little, there was no air leak present after the damage, just after the shop work.
Has anyone experienced an air leak as such? If so how was it resolved? And how much labor/cost was incurred?
Thank you for your insight.
I'm assuming you've checked to make sure the window is going all the way back up when you start the car, so one would suspect that it has something to do with the weather stripping around the passenger door/window, that was probably removed during repair and painting.
If you can't find any obvious gaps or difference compared to the driver's side, then I would suggest taking it back to the body shop that actually did the work (since I'm pretty sure that most dealers' service departments would have subbed that work out to whatever body shop they use), and complain to them directly. That's what I would do anyway . . .
There is a window adjustment at the bottom of the door. You have to remove a little rubber piece and then you have access to a screw that you can turn and it tightens the window against the seal. It takes 5 minutes. I would play with that before taking the car somewhere.
Merry Christmas.
I'd say take the car back the the original shop that did the repairs and tell them they didn't fix it. Take someone there for a ride in the car if you can so they can hear it, and maybe even pinpoint the leak while the car is moving - that would make it much easier to fix. Make them do it right.

Thanks guys, I think I'll try tinkering with the scew adjustment as Karrera4 suggested. If that doesn't work I guess I'll head back to the shop when the weather is better.
