Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 986Forum: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is just for my own knowledge - Why is the airbag control module mounted to an enormous brass bracket with tamperproof nuts? It doesn't strike me as structural and it's the only brass mounting plate that I have come across in the entire car. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

POST 2Original post

Look at the brass bracket. Look at a zinc coated bolt. Close your eyes. Look at the bracket again. The metal will change into steel. It's magic. ...promise.

Lol, fair enough. Then why is the bracket zinc coated steel? I can't imagine Stuttgart was anticipating rust in that area. Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk

POST 4Original post

Probably because the VW it was originally designed for did have rust issues.

Interesting! Why use the bracket at all though? Why not just bolt it down to tunnel directly? Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
