Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

[SUB]I have been noticing a sound in first and second gear, it happens when I am starting to disengage the clutch and start pressing the gas. The sound is a winding sound very similar to what some manual cars sound like when you put it in reverse. It also seems to be more noticeable when I'm shifting into first or second while turning and sounds louder at lower speeds/rpm. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this sound? Would low or old tranny fluid cause this? Or could this be related to the clutch as I just had it changed out? [/SUB]

POST 2Original post

There are a lot of possibilities here. I'd start by replacing the transmission fluid, since that's cheap and easy.

POST 4Original post

My car is an 08 has 56k kms on it and I read that the tranny fluid lasts for 12 years or 100k miles. So do you think the tranny fluid would need to be changed at this point? The noise seems to be related to the steering wheel. I notice that even when I turn my steering wheel and im not shifting the noise comes back sometimes. Could this be a power steering pump or something?

POST 5Original post

Yes check the power steering fluid. It will make an audible whine when a bit low.
