Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I'm searching but so far only in a curious way. Anyhow, Ive seen a large price range for these great vehicles and could use some help. I'd appreciate any input you folks (with more knowledge) may have to help with my search. TIA

POST 2Original post

I have spent the last couple of months shopping 997's. It is amazing and frustrating at the huge swing in prices. The frustrating part is the lack of depreciation on cars that are 6 or almost 7 years old. It speaks highly of the car and Porsche as a manufacturer. They are the pinnacle of sports cars IMHO. I have seen on the average 64 to 104 thousand dollars for 2006 to 2009 turbo cars. It seems like 71 thousand is the most common price I have seen. Most cars have less than 30 thousand miles. Some stock, some modded up. Custom interiors are wild in some. The cabriolets are the most common listings. The Coupe with a manual transmission is the second most listed. Tiptronic and PDK cars are third with about a dozen listed at anyone time. I picked a Tiptronic car today after all my research. My wife did not enjoy our Cayman S and the standard transmission so I decided to get the dream car with an automatic. It should be here tomorrow night. I suggest combing ebay motors and cars.com for the 997 turbo car. You can set search parameters to find what you want. I found my car under 60k and its beautiful. Just shop shop shop. O, and get a carfax account. Most reputable dealers will include the carfax. Private sellers typically ask more but there were a few that "had" to sell and offered their cars at a great price. Use the VIN number at the dealer where the vehicle is located or is from to research its service records. Good Luck.
