Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Intermittent Starting Issue. Looking for some troubleshooting help on my 2001 Boxster S (986.1, 105k miles, manual). Lately, I’ve been experiencing occasional lazy starts, and today it has started to not crank at all sometimes when I turn the key. It’s intermittent, but it’s becoming more frequent. I’m thinking about starting with relays—do they tend to fail intermittently before completely going bad? Also wondering about the positive battery cable—is internal corrosion a common issue on these cars? What else should I check? Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Located in southern Virginia

Thank you. Should I run it from the front to the engine/starter?

Update: I am pretty sure it was my clutch switch that was bad. It has not acted up since. I made a small jumper for my toolkit with the car, so that if this issue occurs again, I can jump the clutch switch to confirm if that's the issue or something else.
