Hey guys I was in the market for a Cayman S a year ago, and have recently stumbled upon a 2002 911 Turbo with 45K miles listed for $30K. It has a clean title but has a slight turbo leak. They say the car is drivable and doesn't have any issues other than that. The car appears to be in good condition from all the pictures maybe fair condition worse case scenario if the paint is not as good in person as it looks in the pictures. Seems like a too good to be true deal. What do you guys think? I honestly don't have use for the car right now as I would like a newer Porsche but wouldn't mind buying it and driving it for a few months and selling it for some quick cash.
that's a no brainer.., you can turn around and sell it if you change your mind.. but make sure you run the vin , check for accidents etc.. My 996 turbo i sold to my friend have 86k miles.. still drives like new.. its an 01 and still worth $40k..have a mechanic check the leak..

If the car has more problems than what's on the surface you could dig yourself into a pretty big hole that's going to cost plenty to climb out of. Pay somebody who knows these cars well to go over it before you buy. I'm a lot more skeptical about these deals that most, so take it for what it is.
That's what I am worried about. Do you guys think have a PPI done at the local Porsche dealer would cover it well enough. I think the car has been in an accident before, how should I factor that into the valuation?
Mechanical problems, and an accident report?
I would pass unless you are looking for a track / project car. You don't want to get into an expensive to fix and hard to sale situation.
I was debating between a 2007 Cayman S or 2002 Turbo my self. I haven't bought it yet but I have decided on the Cayman S. The price would be about the same, but the peace of mind having the newer car for the same price is worth the difference in horse power for me.
I had a PPI done once on a BMW in Texas at a dealer. The report was clean. I found out later the seller's brother worked in the service dept. I was out hundreds of dollars in repairs on issues that were 'overlooked' when I bought the car.
Caveat emptor
Whoever does the PPI, make sure it goes up on a lift.
The price sounds a little on the low side.
YMMV, and good luck with the transaction.

Pass on the car. There are plenty of these cars around, you don't need an accident and whatever else may be wrong around your neck.
That's what I was thinking, I was looking to make a quick buck and flip it to put the money towards a Cayman S. Don't really want to deal with the hassle here is the link if any of you guys would be interested.
Salvage 2002 Porsche 911 | Worldwide Auto
Let me know what you guys think.
ok that explains it... "salvage" lol!!
It is not a salvage title. The link pops up that way because that is what they specialize in. If you click the link it states it is a clean title car, and I called and verified it is a clean not rebuilt title. That is why it caught my eye.
