I have also tried using the boot release buttons within the car; again no joy but then porsche did advise me that they would not expect them to work.

Help !!! Im sure this has been covered but i cant seem to find a detailed solution in the forums.... 996/911 (2004) turbo Cab --- > With a lifeless battery and no way to open the front boot to check/replace it. The fuse box root with a spare battery has failed; alarm sounds but no further joy using the key. I have been told that there is a cable that runs near to the drivers side headlight and to get to it you need to remove the drivers side inner arch and perhaps the wheel and then reach down and tug the cable to release the boot. Can somebody please be more specific than this ? Where exactly is the cable ? what are the exact steps to releasing the boot in this way ? I called Porsche and they tell me to release the boot manually you need to reach under the front center of the boot.... this would mean a visit to the garage and up on the ramp job.... can anybody shed any further light ? thks [/b]

hey mike fuse box route --- > i have a spare fully charged battery; i connect the positive to the special connection in the fuse box; negative to the door hinge for earth. Alarm sounds instantly and remains on. I then attempt to open the boot using the key fob without joy. The key was working fine a week ago and red light functions on key when i depress (spare key shows same result). I have also tried using the boot release buttons within the car; again no joy but then porsche did advise me that they would not expect them to work.
