Since bidding go to $65,000 within an hour of the auction opening - and it went for $107,000 last time it was on BAT..
What's your guess as to the final bid amount?
I'm going with $110,000 - even though prices seem to be settling down, I haven't seen any indication of the 987 prices softening.
Your guess?
Not just a 987, first year
Spyder
, lightest iteration, hydraulic steering, no start stop technology, cabled emergency brake, easy oil resets easy air filter access and stupidly low mileage.
Five owners and 4,500 miles. Something smells funny.
The tent's too troublesome to remove and nobody drives a
spyder
with a tent on.
I had similar concerns about a top up long trip but it was over ninety out. The top was fine, as was its ability to maintain a comfortable cabin. Convertibles are noisy on the highway top up though, no doubt about that. As for this particular car? It sounds like the five owners are speculating on this car like some rare coin. It's either that or like Steve said something is off.
I agree with Boris, it's most likely speculation and profit-taking with this car. Which is sad because it means this fantastic driver's car will just become a garage queen

I think with the mileage on it - it's already been living as a garage queen. Shame. Cars are made to drive, not to save for the next owner. As much as I enjoy going to look at mine, or the admiring comments it continuously gets - driving it is the reason I own it. I figure at my age it's likely the last really cool car I'll own.
Put on the miles in it!
Don't hold back!
You guys have great weather over in the middle part of the states where the skies are more often blue and the day to day weather is predictable!
One of the worst places for a convertible is the tropics because rain can come and go like someone sending morse code! 😜
Well, this is not my forte, I would never buy a car for nostalgic value personally. So, my guess is exactly that, a guess, yet here I go: $117,987. I kinda feel bad for Don - 8 posts and not one that responded to his request!
Haha... I honestly don't know what kinds of prices and values cars are over in the States but based on what's been going around, I'd go with my ancestral Chinaman lucky number $118,888!! 😜
Sold for $92K. The guy lost $11K+, bought it March 14th this year. Probably beat his stock market performance, however!
I have a 2011
Spyder
with about 4200 miles on her. Bought new in 2010. Will never sell her, but it's nice to know I could probably sell for at least what I paid. I never put the top on unless I'm going to wash her. I also have ADHD.
