Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I’ve had them on my DD MB for 3 yrs and they wear great and super quiet… I have blizzaks for winter but their snow tire is really good too… the G-Max’s came recommended actually from the rack… sales guy said they were really excellent… I’m starting to wonder if OP is a bot

No idea how they hold up to track use (300 tread wear BTW) but I wouldn't be concerned they would overheat and start chunking and given the progressive feel I think they'd be a perfectly fine choice if you were doing the occasional track day and were just chasing your own times.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sure, some are more popular than others, but being it is a Porsche with staggered wheels, there are only so many tires that even the tire retailers will recommend.

Depends on what driving style you have or if it’s a street or track use or both. What size rims, etc
if you looking for a great V-rated tire for normal spirited street use that doesn’t break the bank, there quiet and actually real sticky for the cash- General G-max R’s. I have them on my MB/summer tires… there super great wearing too.. general is a sister company of Continental so there real close..
More of a street/track day tire.. Michelin PS4’s, Yokohama V601 (I have them), PS2’s or the Continental’s are great too…
Track tires: I’m sure this isn’t what your looking for or you wouldn’t be asking..
Since the person asking about "tyres" and displays a Union Jack next to his name, I suspect that he's in the UK and I doubt that General sells tires there. However, your suggestion about General is a good one. I use General winter and summer tires on my BMW X3. Until Continental assumed General, they were just an average tire, but their new owners have turned them into a great tire manufacturer. With my pervious BS, a 987.1, I liked Continental DWS tires, that I believe to be available in Europe.
I am surprised that Generals are a world-wide product as I've lived in Europe, Asia and South America and have never seen a General tire. Moreover, I've watched many tire-comparison YouTube videos from the UK and General was never included in a tire line up. On the other hand, since acquiring General, Continental has sold tires made by its European subsidiaries as rebranded Generals. For example, a winter tire sold as Gislaved in Sweden was available as a General in the US.
And yes, the G-Max tires are very good and I'd rate them better than Firehawks.

I have the G-Max's on 18's on my 06 BS (purchased after recommendations on this site earlier this year...I think from Porsche08) 235 on the front, 275 rear. I have now done 6k miles on them, plenty of enthusiastic driving, big road trips, daily driving, through heavy rain, hot summer roads too. I am very happy them, seem to be wearing very well and evenly with low tire noise and quite progressive feel. I would confidently recommend them as road use tire. No idea how they hold up to track use (300 tread wear BTW) but I wouldn't be concerned they would overheat and start chunking and given the progressive feel I think they'd be a perfectly fine choice if you were doing the occasional track day and were just chasing your own times. Obviously a Pilot Sport is going to be faster but $$.
Cheers,
Julian
It probably was me… I have 3 summers on the Benz with those.. love’m!! There THE best bang for the buck this side of a track day tire… as you so I’m sure they’d overheat quickly.. it’s a great daily/spirited V rated tire… easy on the wallet . The guy at the rack said he just bought a set for his GTi and he loved them…
So I've now covered nearly 21,000 miles on my G-Max RS tires in the last 18 months and the rears are almost to the wear bars (fair bit of life still in the fronts) so I'm looking for prices on the 275/40/18 and the price has jumped up to ~$250 each. Anyone got a hook up for the Generals?
