The dealer told me that from previous service history, there has been one Seal leak and it has been fixed and replaced (along with the clutch)

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone, i just bought an 03 C4S couple of days ago. I have put a downpayment on the car, and it is subject to my inspection as the car is in another state.
The dealer told me that from previous service history, there has been one Seal leak and it has been fixed and replaced (along with the clutch)
should I not purchase this car or do you guys think this is ok? I still have one year left on the warranty and i will get it extended, i just want to know if it will be a recurring problem in the future.
Thanks guys.
Yes, its OK to buy a car with a RMS replacement. Yes, it will probably start leaking again sometime in the future.
As one dealer told me sometime ago, if it doesn,t leak now, it will, sometime in the future.
There has been alot of threads on this forum about the infamous RMS. It probably is a design flaw, and maybe Porsche has finally slowed the problem down with its latest and greatest seal, but I wouldn't bet money on it.
If you like the car, buy it and have fun. Worrying about a damn little oil leak will only make you crazy!

i got a car with RMS that was fixed by the porsche dealer who sold me the car. its still under warranty, so i am not worried. i say get it. RMS is not a big deal - its way overblown.
Agree RMS not an issue to keep you away from an otherwisw good car. My recomendation is everytime you get a new clutch have the RMS replaced even if it does not leak, just my 2 cents.
same as above posters. Mine had one RMS repair when I bought and none subsequent problems. This is a known design flaw that is relatively minor in the scheme of things.
Just accept it, and the inescapable door ding/pebble chip, as a fact of life and enjoy a fabulous sports car.
Don't worry about RMS. Get the extended warranty and relax! Even if you had to pay for the replacement yourself, it would be in the $800 range. If you drive 15,000 miles per year, you will spend almost that much on "N-rated" rear tires each year.
RMS repair is around $500-$800 at an Independant Pcar shop. When you look at the price of modding your car the $$$ wont seem so bad.
.
BTW, I purchase my car used and it didn't have a RMS issue until I started driving it.
Thanks for all the reply,
I have another question for u guys..I am about to do a PPI on the car, the dealer is charging about $350-400, does that sound about right? if not, how much is it normally..thanks, let me know what you guys think.
