Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I use "drove" in quotes, because, while the car was moving, and it was on a track, from the video, it looked like it was moving about 20 MPH.
Leading evidence: 'Use "drove" in quotes' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean valves and remove deposits' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I use a small bottle of Techron from Chevron, about every 5K.

I think it helps clean the valves and remove deposits.

BMW sells the same Chevron Techron with the BMW logo and name on it at the dealership and the bottle is the same only the dealership one is white and a few bucks more (if you read the back its a chevron product.) I do this with every oil change on all my cars and trucks

van, thats what i'm sayin the motor never froze up, thats what i want to know HOW can you run a car 100 miles without water & oil, then they took the motor out of the car & put it in a big tub of water sub-merged & it was still running, talking about bullet proof

Quite simply, running the car without any oil is the perfect solution for IMS and RMS problems - once your engine seizes up from lack of lubrication, there is no more need to worry about the IMS bearing failing or the RMS leaking!!

guys i've just watched a miracle on tv, anybody ever heard of bestline engine treatment, they took the oil out of the motor, cut the water hose & then drove the car another 100 miles & it didn't do anything to the motor, then they took motor out of car & took off valve covers & put liquid glass & sand into the valves & then put the motor under water & it still ran, whats the deal with this, how do they do this, if it was real this would be a miracle cure for every motor.

911slow, don't worry i've learned my lesson, i don't put ANYTHING but oem porsche products in car, no additives at all, these cars do not want any foreign liquids in them, even anti-freeze has to be porsche or mineral water & i don't even trust mineral water, do you know if anybody uses any oil or fuel additives.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I use a small bottle of Techron from Chevron, about every 5K. It is just a more concentrated version of what is in the gasoline. I think it helps clean the valves and remove deposits. So far.....so good. (35Kmi)
water should be distilled, not de-ionized, fitered is good, tap (some say no, but I know it is used) and Evian or Auquafina is fine arrowhead is a
hahaha just kidding about that last part

i was just using that as an example, but now i do know NOT to use it for car, i guess that techron stuff must be pretty good though, i mite try some of that, is it just a small bottle & put in gas tank about every 5,000 miles? i drink the cheap purified stuff from sams club.
Johnny, I do think you've hit the nail on the head. Quite simply, running the car without any oil is the perfect solution for IMS and RMS problems - once your engine seizes up from lack of lubrication, there is no more need to worry about the IMS bearing failing or the RMS leaking!!

I remember about 15 years ago, Slick 50 used that advertising technique - they put some additive into the engine of a viper, drained the oil then "drove" it on the track to demonstrate how good their additive was. I use "drove" in quotes, because, while the car was moving, and it was on a track, from the video, it looked like it was moving about 20 MPH.
Believe it or not, and engine will run an unusually long time without oil if it's just at idle - or just above idle. I don't know the actual formulas, but I'd have to believe that engine heat is going to increase exponentially as load and RPM go up. I.e. a 996 engine pushing the car along at 1,500 RPM in 1nd or 2rd gear is a completely different scenario than the same engine pushing the car through the air at 160 MPH at 6,800 RPM in 5th gear.
Just because and engine
can
do this... doesn't mean that: a) the additive is really doing anything; b) it's an indicative test of real-world usage; c) truly *not* causing any damage internally; or d) providing any benefit to the 996 IMS or RMS problems - this would be: providing lubrication to the sealed IMS bearing or dealing with the material incompatibility that causes RMS leaks.
van, i'm sorry i think you misunderstood me, i didn't really mean this was a solution for the ims & rms problems, i was just joking, i know this is a gimmick, but i imagine they've sold thousands of bottles, but you know the old addage if it looks to good to be true, but you know any advertisment you ever see on tv NEVER does what it says & it's definitely not as easy as they make it look
