Anyone have any decent pics of the standard Cayman S wheel?
There are several in the Images section here, you can also look at the Porsche web site and even get a screensaver of the Cayman there that has the standard wheel. I ordered it because it looks good to me and seems easy to clean which I value highly. It also reminds me of the Carrera GT wheel a bit.
I am with SF...ordered the standard because I like the look (I am partial to 5 spoke wheels) and should be very easy to keep clean.
I'm on the standard wheel boat also - but I'm sure attracted to the 19' sport wheels. However I feel like if I got them then I would also need PASM - so all the sudden I'm up to 4 grand for a ride that still might be harder for a daily driver.
So it's just not worth it to me - but I sure can see that others might want it.
And I agree there are not many good pictures of the standard Cayman wheel to look at - especially in various colors.
Also, I found the following in a Consumer Guide Automotive review that indicates the harder ride.
Ride Quality
Base w/18-in. wheels, man. (3) S w/19-in. wheels, man. (2) S w/19-in. wheels, auto. (2)
Firm control, with tire choice a big factor in comfort. No base version with 17-inch tires made available for test, but with 18s, bumps, cracks, patchy pavement pass with little undue harshness. No S with 18s made available for test, but with 19s, ride is uncomfortably choppy on all but smooth roads. Uneven surfaces induce more structural shimmy in Boxster than in BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Honda rivals, but body flex never compromising.

Well the carrera classics are also five spoke and easy to clean. I ordered them because at the time I didn't know enough not to! I do like the 18' standard a lot and I could have put that 2K toward some other things. Oh well I am learning!! Here is a nice pic of the 18's and what a nice color car!
Aloha Russ
Nice shot RussK - I hadn't seen that one.
Here is the red in Cayman S and Sport - Gotta love the sport - but the standard look good also.

K-Man sculpture,
Like I used to say when I was single (when talking about women) I gotta love them all!! The car is just plain gorgeous in any outfit!
Aloha Russ
Does anyone know if this is a steel suspension car or not because the fender gap doesn't look as monsterous as I've seen in other pictures.
BTW - I love the standard wheels.
Don't know for sure, but if this is the Cobalt/Stone Grey example that was at the Frankfurt show......its a non-PASM car. It also had the interior design package, so if Russ has a shot of this same car on the inside we might be able to confirm. Either way.......I still love the look of the 18's.......and I actually like seeing a bit more rubber than the 19's show, makes the car look more 'beefy' to me for some reason.
I like the standard wheels when you see them on a picture, but I don't like them when you see the car the car in the flesh. They look a little bit cheap in my opininion. But who am I?/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/dance.gif
I still have yet to see them in the flesh, so I am not sure what I will think then. But still it's a personal preference type item - except that like everything else it carries a higher price tag if you decide to option it.
I imagine replacement tires are higher on the 19" wheels also.
