Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Having been in Boxsters for 7 years, I noted that the speedometer always read 4-5% high (readout was 60 mph, actual speed was 57 mph). This was (effectively) standard on all Boxsters. New to the 996, should I expect the speedometer to be accurate or is it also 5% off? TIA.

POST 2Original post

Mine is about 1.5mph or less off from my portable GPS up to 173mph, which is the more accurate I don't know.

POST 3Original post

Mine reads about 4mph high at all speeds, as did my Boxster.

POST 4Original post

Mine is about 1.5mph or less off from my portable GPS up to 173mph, which is the more accurate I don't know Where did you take the car up to 173mph... I gotta go to that heavenly place!

POST 5Original post

A nice 3 lane HWY in MD some call it a Sportbiker's heaven. This morning was a perfect day since the trafic lights are set for rush hour and there's no one on the HwY due to the holiday.

'99 C2 w/ factory 18" wheels and tire sizes reads almost exactly 4mph high at all speeds too.

POST 10Original post

My 99 996 reads 5-6mph high according to my GPS after I put 285/30 tires on the back.

POST 11Original post

I got a radar reading of 119mph when my speedo said 123mph.

POST 12Original post

Did a ticket accompany the radar reading.......???

POST 13Original post

I consistently get +5mph at any speeds I've checked.

POST 14Original post

No, only a certificate from the Silver State Classic

POST 15Original post

My speedo is 4mph fast at all speeds above 20mph. That Silver State Classic looks like it is a great event. May have to get this on my calendar.

POST 17Original post

having one of those parked radar trailers that the police leave on my way to work today it showed me going 57 but the car showed 62
