Been snow ploughing through loose slush & snow without grief until early Sunday morning when the bits between the wheel ruts was frozen overnight, scuffed back to the PU so bit annoyed with that, wouldn't have happened 5mph slower or 1 hour later when it had softened, have to get the Smart Repair guys round for a look.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Picked up some battle damage this week driving through the snow! First was a kerb hidden by the snow which has given me a lovely kerbing graunch about 20cm round the rim of the Sports Designs, luckily I'm planning a full refurb in the next month or so, so was surprisingly calm about it! Other damage is 2 scuffs in the centre of the front skirt, one on the chin trim of the aerokit & one just above it on the lower bumper, caused by frozen slush on Sunday.

POST 2Original post

If your getting them refurnished perhaps get them done in Graphite Grey/Anthracite. Looks great on Silver cars. Marcus did his SLK after a little discussion and in my opinion they look great. Looks perfect. This colour looks good on black cars too. Thread here. http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=49564

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yep, I know what you mean. I gave my fronts a strip & paint in the summer with a silver half way between the stock silver and the anthracite to see if I liked it...I just cant decide if I do or not. My initial reaction was no and I planned for the Porsche silver to go back on, now ur just trying to confuse me!! I'm planning on powdercoating the rims this time as the clearcoat on diamond cut rims is just useless, it just blooms in 2 years, if I go anthracite, do you think silver rims or anthracite the same as the spokes?

POST 4Original post

One colour for me. I'm not a fan of having the edges in a different colour. It does depend on the wheel style as well when considering a change of colour. For example. You wouldn't have thought Anthracite/graphite would go with black, but depending on the wheel it does. Check out this 135i which WSTO did. Looks excellent to me (the black/graphite combination). The ADVAN RZ's look perfect.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the other thing is my bright silver looks like that anyway after a good drive! 8)

POST 6Original post

Perfect. You should see the state of mine. I must clean it this weekend.

POST 7Original post

I share your pain mate - i nicked one of my rims on a snow hidden kerb on Sunday, concur with ResB on colour though heres mine...

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

POST 10Original post

IMO as you have a silver car, keep the whole wheel the same colour looks good on all the cars I have seen like this. Did my rims silver as I have a split rims and a dark coloured car. TB

POST 11Original post

I'm in a bit of a quandry at the moment as I need my wheels doing but as I've got a Viola car I'm not sure what colour wheels would look good. At the moment they're stock silver, but thinking a bit darker would look better (but not too dark).

POST 12Original post

I've just booked my car in to be done on Monday! Can't wait  I have 2 piece sport designs & I'm having the inner piece a lovely gunmetal grey & the outer left silver. I think this will look great against an arctic car. I will post pics once done !!

POST 13Original post

Sorry to hear it. I have also done something similar to the rim of my rear Sports Design. I talked to both Porsche and Chips away about trying to get it fixed and they both said that due to the rim being bare metal, all they could do was try and touch up with a silver paint (a compromise). Who are you looking at for a full refurb and may I ask what sort of cost per wheel are you looking at?

POST 14Original post

I'm booked in with wheel works in Crawley that have come highly reccomended. Click here They are quoting 95 per wheel +VAT. Bare in mind that my wheels are 2 piece & i'm having the centre piece painted another colour 2.
