Hello, I want to buy a trickle charger but I park on the road outside my house so do not have access to an electrical socket. Will the product on the link below do the job if I just plug it straight into the cigarette lighter ? I use both the CTEK charger and also the solar charger when a plug isn't available. To be fair the Maplins one isn't that great. Unless the sunlight shines on it directly it doesn't reach 14v. I use an Exide one which is great. It reaches 14v even on very overcast days. Google Exide or ICP solar car charger. The cigarette lighter plug method only works if your cigarette lighter is live with the ignition off. This is not consistent in 996s. Mine isn't so I hard wired it to the battery with the lead coming through the bulkhead into the cabin. Only took 5 minutes to do.

Thanks for the reply. I'll test the live status of my cigarette lighter socket by plugging in my portable Satnav to see if it picks up a feed :thumb:
