Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'm quite new to this forum as well and having read your earlier post regarding suspension I checked my optional equipment codes as I found the ride quite harsh and it shows both 014 & 030 (sports package & sports suspension group) and 234 & 408 (change of tyres & 18" techno wheels).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello,
I've got a 996 c2 (1998) with GT3 kit and "sports suspension". This was not a factory fit according to the options sticker (not having m030 listed).
I'm not happy with the ride, I find it way too hard for the UK roads (comparing back to my previous 'standard' 996 and M3) so was wondering about going back to stock.
However the flipside is people keep telling me M030 suspension isn't too bad - so I'm wondering whether my suspension is already M030 before I go back to stock (otherwise I could try M030) :?
So here's what it looks like (whilst still attacehd to car) - any ideas? :dont know:
Thanks in advance
Hi PorsheNoob
I'm quite new to this forum as well and having read your earlier post regarding suspension I checked my optional equipment codes as I found the ride quite harsh and it shows both 014 & 030 (sports package & sports suspension group) and 234 & 408 (change of tyres & 18" techno wheels). I take it this means it's fitted with the M030 sports suspension so I'm going to drop the tyres pressures a bit (not as much as smj996c mentioned - 32F/38R) to see if this makes a difference, only when the snow goes!
What does 014 (sports package) actually include and is this why the car is shown on the V5 as a "Tiptronic S"?
What does 'better' mean in this case?
Suspension has to be a compromise between ride and handling. The level of compromise that suits one person may not suit another.
It is therefore hard to understand how and absolute scale of
worst > worse > better > best
can exist
There are painted dots (about 1/2" diameter) on the coils of the springs. You might be able to see them without removing the wheel if you turn it on full lock. Like you say, easier with the wheel off.
Had a good look and the suspension has the green markings on and when I double checked under the hood it had the option code 030 (I was looking for m030 - doh!) it seem's it does tally that it has M030 suspension.
I will take it to an indy and see what they think in terms of the ride - it could just be tired suspension. If they say it's ok then it's something I'll have to live with as seeing some pics I think the standard suspension will raise the car too much.
Thanks to everyone (particularly Richard) for their help.
