If you look through the California dealers inventory alone there are over 150 stock CAYMANS on their way....
Guys, I'm surprised there is no response yet. Aren't you a little concerned that they have over 150 unsold stock units in California alone? Hope they don't overbuild and undercut the price.
No because that includes cars that aren't even built yet, the website numbers are also never right so I'm not in the least bit concerned.
I am not worried. I have always longed to own a Porsche and now I have the one I want on the boat. The rest is not going to cause concern for me. One of life's dreams coming true here.
Perfect response. Tunnel vision... the Grail is in sight now...
A lot of dealers will list
every
Cayman (and other models) they have coming in........whether they are available for sale or not. Sometimes they will say they are not sold just to get you into the place......but when you get there you get the......'that one has been sold'........then the.......'would you like to spec one for a future allotment?'
My dealer typically lists about 15 997s for sale andabout 15 Boxsters........yet they only have about a 1/4 of that on the lot at any given time.
Check out Niello Porsche.......

Look at the Cayman S inventory, now check the stock number for one of the 'on the way' cars......production date is in Feb.......not exactly 'on the way' in my book.
Porsche does want to sell these things though and expects interest to pick up with some Caymanshitting the streetswithin the next month. I'm sure within a year you will be able to get some $$$ off one, that's always been the cost of being first in line.

Porsche expects to seel 4000 in the US in the first year of production with most going to the East and West coasts, so they have build up some inventory somehow. Not everyone will be pre-ordering like us. Still 4000 is a pretty small number.
I paid sticker for my 99 Boxster and waited almost 6 months to get it. That was year 3 of production for the Boxster. No telling what will happen to the Cayman but if it drives as well as it looks, I'd expect a long line for them.
150 surplus in california sounds like a bit of a stretch to me unless Porsche has totally screwed up global allocations and lets face it they are pretty good business people...send all surplus to China, Singapore, HK, Aust etc...they willtake them!
As for Depreciation, some countries will lose more in depreciation in 4 years than a US cayman costs so I would struggle to feel sorry for anyUS peoplebleating about potential residuals....not sre if any US people have bleated just giving some perspective.
Just enjoy it as god intended...thrash it, track it, wash it, look at it, impress your mates, pick up a girl, or whatever tickles your fancy, the residuals on most cars are poor but I am sure croc will show strong residuals but no one in their right mind should be treating this as a sound financial investment. If so I have these great Dot Com shares I can sell you and I will even give then to you for 2002-03 prices!
Cheers
150 unsold Cayman S' in California?
Cool! Can you say 'Winter Sales Event?'
