theres no cambelt on a 911 they are chains, the polyrib belt that has been changed runs various anciliaries like the alternator, when you take your car for the annual sevice they will replace what ever is necessary at that time depending whether its a major or minor service and in accordance with the porsche schedule.

But, the question is, when will the cambelt or timing belt needs to be changed eventually or never?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
I recently obtained a 2001 996tt and wish to work on the mechanical side of the car so that it will last well for me and the next owner as well. Moreover, because I daily drive my car and cannot afford a brake down that will put me off the road as this is my only car.
The car has only 30000 miles or so since 2001 (not a DD for previous owner) and FPSH.
Tiptronic fluid 2007 changed
Spark plugs 2007
Left radiator 2008
fuel pump 2009
polybelt changed 99919237950 (2007)
Should I worry about part like cambelt or anything else that may cause serious failure if not replaced? any suggestions are welcome, even overkill ones
Best wishes and many thanks in advance for your help and contribution.
No cambelt nonsense on a 911 - chains all the way
At that mileage you should have no engine problems at all.
Enjoy your car. Drive it hard & often; they seem to respond well if you do.
thanks for the replyNX120.
I thought the cambelt is not meant to be changed this early. I remember reading about similiar thing for my ex-Boxster. But, the question is, when will the cambelt or timing belt needs to be changed eventually or never? Also, the car is also 9 years old.

other things to keep an eye on
- radiators
- air con condensors
- turbo heatsheilds
- turbo actuators and wastegates
- clutch
- coil packs
- MAF sensor
Thanks also to smj996c for the input. I really dont mind any extra reminders or lists so that I can put up a complete list for everybody here.
Just thought about the coolant. It hasnt been changed for 9 yrs, should it be changed now?
what colour is your coolant? IIRC
RED - doesn't need changing
BLUE - is every 5 years
in anycase yours should be OK as would have topped up or even replaced when your radiator was changed.
