Apparently one of my Christmas presents is going to be a lane-change-assist system, which uses radar (rather than ultrasonic sensors) sensors that mount under the bumper cover.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Apparently one of my Christmas presents is going to be a lane-change-assist system, which uses radar (rather than ultrasonic sensors) sensors that mount under the bumper cover. From some photos I've seen of a Cayman with the rear bumper cover removed - there should be space for the sensors - and it seems fairly easy (less than 10 screws) to remove the bumper cover. BUT - I can't find a writeup here on removing one on a Boxster . Anyone know of one? Or perhaps a YouTube video? TIA..

POST 2Original post

Ah - found one: Looks fairly doable.. even for an old creaky guy.

POST 3Original post

The rear is easier than the front but no to bad either way. I have to take my front off. Evidently the window wash line for the headlights runs down near the area of where the front lip clips into the bumper (ya I know, Why!?!?) and I nicked it …

POST 4Original post

I’ve seen various systems on Amazon with mixed reviews. They range from cheap (<$100) up to $900 for a Pioneer unit. Which one did you go with? Looking forward to seeing your review and opinions! 🍿

POST 5Original post

The Pioneer looks nice - the GPS speed control will probably be something I miss. I went with a $299 package that got good reviews. Once I get it (Christmas morning) I'll post up the Amazon link to it.
