Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Outcome without a verified action link

I tried the vacuum and pressurised air blown into the intakes regularly but I was surprised at the amount of dust and debris that was still stuck between the 2 radiator/evaporator.

POST 1Original post

What methods have the folks here used for cleaning the exposed surfaces of the radiators? I've seen YouTube videos where the bumper and headlights are removed, and others where the bumpers were left in place and guys found long slender wands for either compressed air hoses or shop-vacs to either suck or blow out the trash from their radiator surfaces by reaching in through the louvers. Thanks for the experiences and insights! Mike

POST 2Original post

You can use a long nozzle and a vacuum cleaner to clean crap out that gets trapped in the intake. The problem is that when you look through the intakes you're looking at the A/C evaporators: the radiators are mounted directly behind those, and stuff can get trapped between the evaporators and the radiators. It's not a terrible idea to remove the bumper every five years or so, unclip the evaporators, and clean everything out properly.

POST 3Original post

+1 what gubi said.... I tried the vacuum and pressurised air blown into the intakes regularly but I was surprised at the amount of dust and debris that was still stuck between the 2 radiator/evaporator. After doing a comprehensive clean up with scoops, bumpers and lights off, it helped with the A/C cooling and my fans didn't run as often. oh and do consider grille guards to reduce the amount of debris that makes it through into the intakes.

POST 4Original post

Bumping this somewhat older thread as I just finished cleaning my radiators this week. I would say removing the bumper is a good idea as you won’t be able to get to the debris trapped between the AC and radiator. This is how much crap I had on mine and none of this was visible from the front. After cleaning added glorified chicken wire aka grills which will hopefully reduce future accumulation.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
