Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For goodness sake don't get confused and buy a Porsche 666, they'll steal your soul as soon as look at you.
Seriously, need to roll out the cliches:
make sure it has been serviced properly
make sure it hasn't been tracked
make sure it hasn't been stolen
make sure it hasn't been damaged/written off
make sure it hasn't got finance
make sure the a/c and cooling rads are ok
make sure you buy on condition
make sure you get a ppi
make sure you drive as many examples as possible so YOU know what they should drive like.
make sure you find one with lots of warranty!
etc etc
No problem Andrew. The checklist is a bit out of date, and it was a good reminder for me to get on and update it. The original is here:

996tbo - Just ignore the bit on engine failures and rebuilts, but apart from that it is very relevant. The Turbo engine is completely different to the Carrera. Listen out for rattling turbo wastegates and loose heat shields. Make sure it delivers about 0.6-0.7 bar of boost at WOT in a high gear. Other than that, the engines are extremely robust.
