Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

My C4 was excellent in the snow, went places other cars didn't stand a chance with, had to check the depth wasn't higher than the aero skirt but it was fine.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just had a call from the mrs trying to get to work.. Her 3 series couldnt even get out of the drive, (very small incline).. was not a problem for the 996 (C4)...  Now she loves it too... :x :x Now all i have to concern myself with is will she return it to the drive in the same condition she found it... :?: - anybody else had this problem? How do I stop this occupying my thoughts all day?

POST 2Original post

Keeping the car in the garage = reversing. Problem for the missus :?: , one she wont do. Problem solved.

POST 3Original post

> Now all i have to concern myself with is will she return it to the drive in the same condition she found it.. No chance whatsoever. It's guaranteed to be returned with the petrol light on, it's the law. A rather annoying law all the same, but always true.

POST 4Original post

Yes: 996 Turbo, no problem. The bird in her 118d just sat spinning on the slight incline into our drive. I had to go and sit in the boot, that was just enough to provide the grip the rears needed. :thumb: I saw loads of front engined rear wheel drive cars in the same predicament. I couldn't offer to sit in the boot of all of them though

POST 5Original post

BMWs are laughably bad in snow, considering they are from Germany. I had to help a mum at my daughters school who's 118d wouldn't even make it over a slightly snowy speedramp! That said, happiness is a front engined, RWD car and an empty, snowy car-park...

POST 6Original post

Totally agree with that, had to help 2 neighbours with BMWs and another with a Jaguar in the last 24 hours....slightest touch of the throttle and the back end just slides sideways! Better off reversing...just

POST 7Original post

My C4 was excellent in the snow, went places other cars didn't stand a chance with, had to check the depth wasn't higher than the aero skirt but it was fine. Black ice however was a nightmare, spun 180 twice on fairly slow turns, only stopped myself from sliding backwards into a parked 530 BMW by putting it into first and putting some power down to stop the slide! Failed to stop on a down hill T junction, only missing a Range Rover by about a second as I slid into the middle of the road, she was oblivious of course. But overall pretty impressive control from the abs & traction, one question, does the abs not work when sliding backwards? Guess not !!

POST 8Original post

There must be almost no snow at all where some of you guys live, but up north my 996 cant get out of my drive at all withought salt collected from the bins aty the end of the street. Terrible in snow.
