It says in there that the under engine area on the 996 is vulnerable to corrosion during the winter due to the combination of no engine tray (these used to be fitted on earlier models apparently) and salted roads.

Hi, got the Porsche 996 The Essential Companion for Xmas from Her Indoors. It says in there that the under engine area on the 996 is vulnerable to corrosion during the winter due to the combination of no engine tray (these used to be fitted on earlier models apparently) and salted roads. Can anyone recommend any treatments, like Waxoil, to spray under the angine area? Or would it be best not to bother?

I used Dinitrol on my car. It took about 1 hour in the summer time when everything is thinner and much easier to apply. Did all the brake pipes and suspension bolts too.
