Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I'm doing a front PCCB pad change on my Cayman S using factory replacement pads and I've come across a rather sticky problem (attempt at humor). Anyway, both the pads and piston dampers (the dampers are silver dollar sized metal shims that have a nipple which allows them to be snapped onto the end of each caliper piston PN:996 352 086 02). have sticky tape on them covered by brown wax paper. I am wondering if I need to remove these before installing them or, if they paper is designed to burn off/weather away. Sounds stupid, I know, but the sticky tape is quite sticky and I think if I remove it I will have trouble getting the pads inserted into the caliper because they will keep rubbing and sticking to the piston dampers which snap into the ends of the pistons. FWIW, the rear pads have no such stick tape, just your standard pre-glued metal shim.
