Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Does anyone know the part number to replace these on the capliers? I'll plan to hammer on a smaller SAE size wrench to get it off.

POST 2Original post

I just ordered a set from pelican. The part number they had listed for a 996 matched what my PET says goes in a cayman-S. There may be cheaper sources, 19 bucks for 2 bleed screws and caps.

POST 3Original post

I would not hammer on a wrench as you could damage your caliper in doing so, a pair of vice grips ought to do the trick.

POST 4Original post

Thanks k-man. The vise grips worked for one but I can't seem to get another one off. I'm puzzled how this happened because the last time I bleed the brakes everything seemed fine. I'm debating about asking my wife if she did it??

POST 5Original post

I'd pass on that. Blaming the wife will likely cost more than a caliper...

POST 6Original post

Try a little liquid wrench right where the threads meet the caliper, let soak for a bit. Try again with the vice grip. Still not working, try holding a can of canned air (electronic canned air) upside down and really chilling the nut, try again. When you do get it out and the new ones arrive, place a very thin coating of anit-seize on the threads, that should keep it from happening again. Good luck!

POST 7Original post

I think my mistake was just cranking it down too tight. Next time I'll use a torque wrench. 6 to 9 lb-ft according to the version of the service manual I have. Also helps to use a 6 point box end to break it free. For future reference, the bleed screw aka 'ventilation valve' is 930 351 919 00.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
