Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I was running H&Rs for a while before going to PSS9s.

however, by the time you get done buying the shocks and springs separately, you're up to a substantial amount of money and you're using springs/shocks that were not necessarily designed to work together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just got my car back from Shoreline motoring...they put H&R springs under my P....looks much better and cornering is amazing....can only imagine what the guys with the "real" lowering packages must feel!! But for me this is (almost) heaven. and still not to bumpy!
i hate to say it, but you'll hate the springs with stock shock in about 6 months. already been there, done that. it will eventually start to handle worse than stock. they're great for cosmetic purposes though.
Will the ride still be bad in 6 months? I want to get my car slightly lower without spending a boat load and my car came with the US 030 option. Any suggestions?
i don't know for sure what the result will. i can tell you that the H&R springs are going to be lower than your ROW, which i would asssume would beat the living F*** out of your stock pieces, not to mention severely reduce the amount of travel and really degrade the handling as soon as your shock begin to fail.
if you want to lower your car, pony up and spend the money, or you'll be paying the install and alignment price twice. what you want for suspesnion pieces boils down to personal preference and budget.
my car handled great for a little while with lowering springs. then it went the other way where it got so bad at speed it was actually kind of frightening. took about 6 months. when we removed my front stock pieces, they were so shot you could easily collapse them with you hands.
they told me that H&R shock bring the car to the original European ride height instead of the USA by la demanded bumper height!
And he in 6 months....probably want to do 19" anyway, so throw in a couple of shocks and we have another mod project....for now it looks good!
Ok please use the KISS (Keep it simple stupid) the stupid being me so with HR springs you need what else, new bumper stops, shocks etc..? and where do you buy all the various things needed. I know I can get the springs on Ebay but the other things I am not so sure of since I am guessing they would not be Porsche items but from some other company.
Thanks in advance
The problem is the shock travel us vs row(sport vs non sport makes no difference), when you buy the row kit from porsche, you have to get both shocks and springs. Dog is right about this one.
bilstein "sport shocks" would work with the H&R springs. they're shorter to accomodate the lowering springs. however, by the time you get done buying the shocks and springs separately, you're up to a substantial amount of money and you're using springs/shocks that were not necessarily designed to work together.
the easiest route is a matched set for a few hundred bucks or so more. H&R and Bilstein make spring shock combos for under 2 grand that are ride height adjustable.
let's face it. these are $75K + cars. why cheap out if you're gonna do it. i went that road and i ended up kicking myself in the long run. i just wanted to lower the car really bad without spending a fortune. oh well, live and learn.
i think if you buy the porsche x74 for the c2 it comes with bigger sway bars too. however, it is not ride height or damping adjustable.
Dog has a point....With my Boxster I did just springs and while it looked great, the ride was AWFUL...and handling was improved only on smooth roads...cornering with bumps made the car very jittery...When I got the 996 my first mod was the PSS9's.....Its a great system and its adjustable to my taste. The ride was actually IMPROVED over stock and the handling is awesome...no more jittery cornering, just solid, and it got rid of my understeer....
Ah well.... it's done.....and I love the way it handles (right now!). Are you saying dog that the handeling gets worse during the next 6 months, because the shocks will wear out?
And the jittery cornering and understeer is gone like you mention newport. So (for now) I am happy....brought my P in today for the conversion and the only shocking parts to buy (money wise) were the headlight wire harnesses (375 for each side!!!) guess have to bite that bullit!
you sure newport that you paid only 175 each side?? Let me know where you got them, because Circle porsche in Long Beach quoted me 375 each side (yesterday)....and LA porsche dismantlers tried to charge me 250 each side....and I will pay 375 for new..instead of the rip off prices from LA dismantlers!
