Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I recently purchased a new-to-me 987.1 CS and I have located what appears to be 1/8" line-in jack labeled "Audio Input" in the slot beneath the CDR24 receiver. Judging by the fact that it does not seem firmly affixed to the back of the slot, and has a little pull and wiggle, I reckon it is some sort of aftermarket modification made by a previous owner. The receiver manual makes no mention of this input, and there is no "Aux" or other button or setting that I can find to hear audio piped into this jack. CDR24 & Audio Input - Album on Imgur I'd like to play music from the headphone out jack on my phone and this thing has been beckoning me for weeks, I just cannot figure out how to use it. Does anyone recognize this setup? Could it be an FM modulator and, if so, any tips on how to use it?

POST 2Original post

My best guess would be a Becker aux mod (or similar) i.e hardwired to the phone function of the CDR-24. The way it works is that it cuts out the FM-radio if/when you insert an audio device into the jack, just like a telephone would mute the FM if a call is incoming. So just plug in an mp3-player, phone etc and start playing and it should cut the FM for the "aux-source" instead. Be aware though - solutions like this is mono only. You can read more about it here: http://www.planet-9.com/987-cayman-...ectronics/59404-cdr-24-back-becker-audio-sound-input-jack-installed-review.html

POST 3Original post

Welcome to the forum! Certainly sounds like an aftermarket add-on. IF it a FM modulator then you should be able to attach a source such as your phone or a MP3 player, this is usually done with a 3.5mm stereo male/male patch cord. Set the volume to a mid point and set a song to play, tune the FM radio to the lowest available point, usually 88.1 MHz and step up one channel at a time and see if you cane hear the song you have selected. However, this assumes the unit is still (actually) connected and is turned on, you may have to find the box... and if you find the box, Google the name and model and you should find a manual.

POST 4Original post

I've tried the procedure you have described, but the external source did not "cut in" over the FM output. I am contacting Becker to try and confirm that it is in fact their mod, so thanks for pointing me in their direction.

POST 5Original post

I've tried the procedure you've described, without success. I'll try it again. As I mentioned above to hallonz, I've contacted Becker Audio to try and confirm this is their work. Based on my lack of success with it to date, I suspect that your suggestion that it is either no longer connected or not "turned on" may be correct. I will see what information Becker can provide, if any, and go from there. Thanks for your comment.
