Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Test good at 3m depth' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check mount every now and' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Regarding which case back to use: I use the one with the slotted openings for maximum audio.

Just have to remember to change the camera setting to the upside down view.

Suggestion
As for using the suction cup right in front of the luggage bar, this works great but I noticed there is now a ring on the plastic where the suction cup was.

I have a radar detector unit mounted to the top of the opening, so I was forced to place a sticky mount on the bottom and use two of the angle pieces so that the camera clears the radar detector and bumper.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I mount mine to the inside of the front windshield.
Here is a sample view. By the way I do not have the HD version and this was down sampled for the web.
I used a sticky clip in the front middle opening. The camera mounted upside down on the upper section of the opening.
So the clip is always there ready for next time and you cant see the clip from the outside of the car so its not an eyesore.
I'm still waiting on my Gopro HD, I bought the handle bar mount to use it on the bar behind the seats to get a bit of inside shooting as well.
I have seen a few youtube clips with it suctioned to the outside of the rear quarter glass and it looks quite good. I do like "Driver8's" mounting as you can see the end points which is similar to DMN987S's mounting.
(Bringing back an old thread)
I just ordered mine. Can you post a picture how it'll look with the camcorder on and off the car.. Thanks! Cant wait to get it =)
You can hardly see the camera while its on the vehicle, LOL!! Thanks for the picture.
This may be a stupid question though, Did you ever think the camera just might fly off?
Yes! I check the mount every now and again.
However the sticky surface is the very high grade 3M type, so its not bad. The surface is not that flat unfortunately, so you have to position it for max contact area.

i have it in front of the bar, but after seeing this im also going to put a mounting point in front of the radiator up front, great idea

Don't mount it to the bottom of the center opening in the front bumper. I have a radar detector unit mounted to the top of the opening, so I was forced to place a sticky mount on the bottom and use two of the angle pieces so that the camera clears the radar detector and bumper. Unfortunately, the insert of the center opening is relatively loose with the front bumper, so the camera shakes a lot. I will be removing the mount as it is useless there.
I bought the handle bar mount because I needed extra extension pieces for the front bumper placement I just mentioned. The luggage bar behind the seats is a much smaller diameter than the handlebar mount can take, so an insert of some sort will be required (maybe a cut up rubber hose or something).
As for using the suction cup right in front of the luggage bar, this works great but I noticed there is now a ring on the plastic where the suction cup was. It wouldn't come off with water and a paper towel, but I didn't try paint cleaner yet.
I did an autocross yesterday and used the suction cup mount outside the car at the top of the windshield so that the front of the car is in the video. I like this position. I also placed a sticky mount just above the license plate. It is hidden and gives good footage of behind the car with maximum exhaust sound. I tested it at a rainy DE, so unfortunately I also got a lot of puddle and water spray noise off of the tires, and the lens fogged up and couldn't dry as I was driving due to the lack of wind in that position.
The roll-bar clip is way too large - the handlebar bracket is as well by a hair. I went to Home Depot, bought a grey garden hose, sliced off a 1 inch section, then slit it down the side. Place the hose around the luggage bar and then clamp. Prevents marring the paint and provides a tight grip that has held up well on track/AX.
I always use the non waterproof case. Sometimes I add some cotton wool to reduce wind noise.
However when the camera is mounted in that front bumper position or the rear bumper position the wind noise is a LOT LOT less.
Waterproof case tested good at 3m depth. See my "crab cam vid".
Friend of mine has 4 GoPro's and combined with my HD video from inside he's put together some good videos on my car.
What I will say by far the best shot for a sense of speed is the view from the hood or nose of the car, and interior shots generally make it look like your grandmother was driving.
I just got back from Talladega where I drove a 1999 Carrera 996 (since traded it in for a 2011 Cayman). I mounted it just to the left of the rear view mirrow. Just have to remember to change the camera setting to the upside down view. Worked great.
I've mounted mine onto the door just in front of the mirror. I tethered it to the mirror using one of the little string tethers they include in the kit now. It never came off though - it was just a regulation for the autocross.
I wasn't sure how I'd like it, but I think that location worked pretty well for this clip. Go to about 1:40 for the action.

Well today I went cruising and mounted the GoPro on the front bumper just like 4by4 has done. There was A LOT of wind noise. How can I reduce this? I could barely hear the engine noise w all the wind. Can anyone provide an actual picture of what they do to their GoPro to reduce wind noise. Thanks!
Regarding which case back to use: I use the one with the slotted openings for maximum audio. To reduce wind noise I cover the slots with electrical tape. This seems to reduce the wind noise but still allow much better audio levels than the watertight case.
Done it many times with no problems. I've mounted it to the windshield, the rear side glass, the rear window, and the headlights. Top speed was about 120 MPH, without incident.
